One of my favorite things to do is paddle early in the morning on calm waters with a coffee in hand, and this holder offers just enough support to make that enjoyable. The standard coffee cup, which is usually shorter with a narrow base, benefits from the added stability this holder provides by widening the base and using the bungee for extra balance. In this scenario, whether it's a coffee or a canned drink, the holder does a decent job of preventing tipping from slight bumps like wakes or other minor disturbances. However, if you're using a tall, heavier travel mug, you may not get the same level of stability. The bungee just doesn't offer enough firmness to keep larger drinks from shifting around.
