I had two Dewalt impact drivers that would hold a bit. This kit was perfect because it had two sets. A brief YouTube tutorial got me up to speed on doing the repairs. It took me about 15 minutes for both. The only issue is being careful when removing the retaining ring so you don’t send the parts flying. Well, the second issue was my fat fingers struggling to snap the retainer back into place. There’s probably a tool for that but I got it done and both work great.

The price was good for this item and I purchased two sets. My ball detent on my impact tool wasn't holding the bits in place any longer and the bits would fall out at the most inopportune times (like on top of a ladder) and was causing me to have to constantly stop to retrieve dropped bits. I have replaced these ball detent springs before and am familiar with doing so. This kit arrived and I installed it but the springs seem to have a little extra on the end causing it to bind with the release ring and not pop back in to place after being released. I have to pull the release ring back in to place to get the ball detent into the correct location to lock the bit in. This isn't ideal but it's a far sight better than the ball detent not going back in to place at all. The kits I have purchased from Dewalt never had this issue but I can live with it for now.

I wish it would have the other top like the factory spring that came off the top of the push down part I use the old one but it does not come with any kind of destructions so if you're not quite sure you can go on YouTube and there is a couple videos out there. It is not hard to replace the springs it's just a pain in the butt you got to be careful that the little baby don't shoot across the yard and lose it forever like I did. But if you take your time and watch how you take it apart it should go back together and work perfectly fine I was surprised when they told me they wouldn't fix it with a warranty but the part was only a couple dollars and like an hour's worth of work made me realize how much DeWalt does not value their tools anymore. That's why I have switched everything to Milwaukee they care about the people that work and used their tools. I just keep the DeWalt tool to use around the house because I don't care about it my other tools I treat like my baby because they work.
