Very pleased with this little filter. I've got my Beta in a tiny little 1 gallon tank. Placed this filter under a big rock to break up the current a bit and it's perfect. My Beta is just a Half Moon so I can't speak to how it would do with some of those giant, fancy flowing fins. But if you invested in a good quality air pump that is adjustable (I did not) I would think it would be fine.

It's been a couple of days since I bought this, and was hoping it would clean my kiddos beta tank. The tank is 2 gallons, with gravel. I set it up accordingly, and it has a nice aerator to the stone, not too much flow so that the fish is floating around out of control. Unfortunately, it doesn't catch much debris, unless I agitate the water and stir the debris so It eventually gets swept up by the small amount of suction from the filter. Aeration, yes, filter, not so much. Maybe if it had no gravel and was a single gallon tank it would do better.

I used it for quite some time in a very small carry tank for my baby betta as I nourtured it back to health. Obviously it in never good for an actual permanent tank. Only very short term use, came in handy, I did still have to do daily water changes though as the sponge wasn’t great and I was feeding the baby live foods. But it worked for me as it was gentle enough to not push the baby around, yet created enough movement to avoid slimy surface.

Good aquarium filter, have it running in my 1gal feeder tank and have had no issues with it

Not great for my tank. Use for a small tank would be better. We have 2 in our medium tank and still the water is not clear. Must wash the filter regularly remember.
