These things are a game changer. I have pegs on the doors, and when I swing open the doors, the loose hooks sometimes fall off. These spacers solve that problem.

I tested many different methods of securing pegboard hooks, and I am happy to share my findings.First, there are Durahooks from Triton Products, available here on Amazon. They literally screw into the pegboard to secure the hook. They are perhaps the most effective solution, but they have a few drawbacks. First, they are limited in styles and sizes and second, they are quite expensive. The next solution I found was the "rubber grommet" solution, which includes this item and some other varieties available on Amazon. I ordered and tried them all and found all of the rubber grommet solutions to work about the same--pretty effective.I tried them first in metal pegboard and they did not work at all; the metal was too thin for the rubber ribs to grip. I did not try them on MDF pegboard, but I tried them on plastic pegboard (Wallpeg is one brand) and BINGO! nearly as effective as the durahooks at a much lower price point. When used, the hooks have a little play and give, but not much and overall they stay in place perfectly well. I was even able to use there with both 1/8" hooks and 1/4" hooks; they are pliable enough to work with both. They are a very cost effective and effective option, yet I think they are quite pricey for what they actually are. A good value for the results, a questionable value based on the cost to produce them in my opinion. But, we pay for results in cases like this and I believe you will be happy.

I had been using the plastic retainers on my pegboard hooks for years. They work OK, but easily break AND often don't work for certain hooks. They also limit hook placement where the ends of the retainers hit the studs holding the pegboard. Saw these and thought I'd try them. I'll never go back to the old style! These worked perfectly. The pictures show before and after.

These are next to impossible to insert into the pegboard hole. I was using my nails and different tools to try. I finally ended up snipping one of the wings off the back which made it easier to insert while still being secure but in no way was it an easy process.

I like the concept of these. I have a lot of tools hanging from pegboard and I don't much care for the retainer straps that come with the hooks. The hooks fit through these very nicely and snugly. However, these retainers really bomb out when they claim "simply push the lock into the pegboard hole, insert the hook, and it's ready for use. No tools or complicated steps required." I even verified that my pegboard had the correct hole size. They recommend a hole size of 1/4"-9/32", and mine has 1/4" holes.I cannot get these installed without some special tool or technique. There are 2 retainer "ears" that won't just go through the hole, and they have to be squeezed inward to get them started. When I do this, though, the soft rubber bulges out on either side of the "ears" and it won't go in the hole. Without a couple fine-pointed tools and some patience, I can't get them installed. Once one is installed, it will stay there, but this is way too much time needed for a modest improvement over the factory retainers.

It was waste of money. This item does not function as it is supposed to do.
