When connecting this unit connect to the battery first so it knows which setting to use. The voltage setting will change if you go from 12v to 24v or vise versa. If your battery voltage is too low you need to trigger the controller with a good battery to get it started.

I found out why this is so cheap. The screw connectors for the wires are so small I had real trouble getting 10 guage wires in. I had to trim them to probably 12 guage. Didn't work with Lifepo4. It overcharged. I would have returned it but I had to bore out the mounting holes to screw it to the wall. The holes are way too small for any screw I would trust securing it.

I brought this controller because supposedly, it worked with a LifePO4 battery, my project was very small, so I didn't want to spend much. Right off the bat, the controller didn't detect the battery well, instructions are confusing, and I had to find a YouTube video. Batteries are the most expensive part in a solar project and mine isn't the exception, it came with a manual to set parameters right and avoid over charging and risks etc... To my surprise I couldn't all the parameters and the ones I could change don't reach the number stated by the battery manual. ***update*** A month later and I had buy a new charge controller, because this one is so trash it could have caused a fire with my battery, so I ended up buyin an expensive victron with bluethoot and is awesome!
