TLDR; perfect board for on the go or portable sketchbooking. The board is solid and will NOT bend. It’s probably good for clay work too but that’s not my art.The main point of buying this board was that I was searching for something I could take with me when I sketch. Something that was solid and could handle water mediums without warping. This issue with most sketchboards on Amazon is the binder clip at the top or sides and the quality. You could get a really solid work top board but it has a bean bag at the bottom you could get a board but you’re stuck with that annoying clip. If I need to a piece then I’ll use rubber bands. More on that in a bit. After giving up all hope on a perfect portable art board I saw this. Since it was used for clay work then it has to be solid for water color paint or ink. While I’ve yet to confirm this one I can already tell it’s going to take a lot of water work for this board to warp. The board was well packed and it felt like I was supporting a small company. I’ve never heard of penguin pottery. Regardless, this is a well built product. Comes with a lifetime warranty too? Nice. The only thing missing was some way to hold paper or my book down. Sure I could use masking tape for watercolor work but what about my sketchbook? Since this is not an art board I had to search for rubber bands I could put on the sides to hold something open and give it friction so it doesn’t slide on my wood desk. Search black rubber bands by Fabby Store. They come in a a 10 pack. Currently they are on the 12 inch side of the board but have plenty of elasticity if you want to strap them the other way.

I know this is called a pottery board but I use it for my work with color pencils. It provides a nice, solid base which allows me to vary the pressures I use with each pencil. The large size is especially helpful for my work on 11 x 14 pages. The board is easy to clean and as of yet impervious to stains. It's not the cheapest solution out there, only the best. Consider this board an investment which will enhance your drawing and coloring experiences. Well worth the money!

I've used this as a drying slab when I didn't have plaster and it works great for wedging, drying, anything with clay. It's lightweight but sturdy and a good size for tabletop use. I will likely purchase a second one.

I'm new to working with clay. This board needs to be bigger, and having the whole for the handle decreases the size. My fault for not knowing more about what I would need. It is a good product.

Solid board, perfect. Depending on how you’re getting your slab prepared, you can quickly run out of room when doing hand work. I would like an even larger size and attach it to something sturdy. Great for mugs and small to medium bowls.

I run a small pottery studio and these work great. I know it might be easier to make my own ware boards but honestly why - these do what I need with our splinters. And they clean up like a champ.
