The pieces come precut to the “exact†tube length.Put them in the lathe and go pretty much.

The short lengths meant the brass pen barrels could stick out. No accounting for spotfacing required to make a pen. Also, there was no purpleheart wood in my delivery. They aren’t horrible blanks, but they aren’t ideal.
