I bought this filter to replace an SD-40 model I have had on my pool for over 15 years. The tank on that unit had gotten a small crack & started to leak at higher pressures. I was looking around for just a replacement tank but the replacement part would've cost almost as much as just getting a complete new filter. This one looks & feels just as sturdy & I'm sure I'll get many years of use from this one as well. There were also a few design improvements over the one I had, like easier to attach laterals & a better drain plug.The only thing was that the shipping carton was not protected very well. All the parts were just fumbling around in the box and I had a broken plastic part & screws missing from the box. Luckily I was replacing the same model unit & I was able to reuse those parts from the old one. I don't know if I just got an opened box from Amazon or if the mfg always ships the same way. All that being said, when I got it installed, it works great. And my pool water is crystal clear. I would purchase this model again.

After only two years, the top mount multi port valve is not working correctly. After returning to filter (after backwashing), it continues to backwash! When the pump is off, I can hear air coming out of the valve. Not good!
