Bought this to rehone the head of a lift that I had bought that when arrived was pretty much a piece of junk.

I'm a machinist so I use this hone frequently. This brand holds up well and stones last a while

I used this to hone out brake caliper cylinders. Only negative was that if you aren't careful it will unscrew and fly apart but it can be put back together. Being able to adjust tension of the stones against the cylinder you are honing made a big difference and the flexibility of the shaft made honing go smooth.

This hone is much better than the first one I bought, which had a plastic center that held the arms and broke on the second use. This is the same design as a larger hone that I previously bought, which was also great. Extra stones are available and you can cut or drill the rivets and use the included cotter pins to replace the stones..............or so that is the idea and the reason I bought extra stones with mine. The grit is quite fine. I needed to true a bore and take a couple thousandths out of it (to receive a bushing), but don't have the tooling to bore it properly. Because of that, this got much more use than it would for cleaning up a brake cylinder. It took a number of minutes to remove material from my part and did wear the stones a decent amount, but for brake use, it should last quite a while. I wish I had coarser stones for this. It also fit into a 1" cylinder, which is smaller than what some of the other hones will do. It took some care and effort to collapse it to fit, so take your time.

The slave cylinders on '56 Chevy had brass sleeve that I had previously had installed by a restoration company thirty years ago. They were starting to leak, so I just wanted to scuff them and replace the rubber parts to get through another thirty.I'm guessing that since this tool was designed to hone iron, the stones are a bit on the aggressive side for my application. That said, they cleaned up the bores very quickly, and although they seemed to scuff the brass a bit too much, everything is holding fluid and seems good to go.

My sole complaint is that the original stones didn’t seem to last all that long… the tool body is certainly built well enough.

As described. Works perfectly and very easy to use. This saved a scored cylinder that i though i would have to throw out.
