I think I've left about 100 reviews on dog collars. I've been through many of them. So far this one has held up for about two months. One of my precious little sled dogs, named Coho, is the dog reincarnation of Houdini. She can escape harnesses, choke collars, leather collars, fabric collars, metal clasps, and plastic clips. You name it- she can maneuver her way out of it. This is the only dog collar I've ever used that she can't quite figure out how to escape from. They put some serious thought into this design and I love it.It slips on over the head and can then be tightened snug onto your pup. Coho is a relatively calm dog, so this was easy to do. But with other dogs who are more playful and energetic, getting them to sit still long enough to tighten this can be virtually impossible. I've had experience dealing with those pups too, but for this specific collar it went onto a dog that was really calm and she let me tighten it. 99% of the time it will remain in a loose state- which makes in comfortable for the dog to wear. But if the dog begins to pull, twist it's head, or try to escape, the collar tightens against the rope, leash, chain, or tie-line (whatever you're using). This makes it virtually impossible to escape from. This feature immediately made it five stars in my book. But what made it even better was the fact it's made out of thick, durable fabric that won't wear out easily. The clasps are metal- which means they won't break like plastic does. And the entire collar is made with quality in mind. The color of this collar is EXACTLY as pictured. It's a vibrant purple- almost lavender hue. Coho is a girly girl, but not really a 'pink' sort of dog. Purple was perfect for her! And it looks adorable contrasted with her black and white fur. Love the look! Love the quality! Couldn't have asked for a better collar. For the price it's unbeatable.

Better than other more expensive collars I have purchased. Especially like the separate small loop to attach tags.

These collars save dogs lives. I was walking down a on leash trail with my dogs when an off leash dog walking with its owner decided to attack my dog right at the last moment as we were passing by no indication no warning. With my reflexes I pulled my dog up (ouch a little for my dog) this tightened up on her neck and pulled her up into my arms and out of the other dogs reach so she only had a lot of slobber on her side instead of a bite. Her neck was fine not tweaked or weird or bruised or anything after this event I watched her for weeks to make sure. I truly believe that if I had a buckle collar on she would have slipped out of it and would have gotten a bad bite from the aggressive dog. My dog also has a walking harness and she can slip out of that if I pull up on it (simulating the dog attack) we've tested it to see which is more safe for her and walks and the collar wins every time.I volunteer at a shelter and we use these to walk our dogs in the only field walking space we have next to a very busy road and they truly save dogs lives by preventing all dogs from being able to slip a normal buckle collar. We use these for our tiniest chi to our larges pit-bulls and each one is safe. We do not use these as choke walking training collars we use either EZwalks or Gentile leaders in addition to these for walking behavior. These are very safe durable lovely collars for walking I highly recommend these collars they're gentle they don't choke because they only tighten around the neck if the dog is trying to pull or slip out. They get tight around the neck so the dog's head cant slip through and everybody is safe unharmed and happy. Please be aware you should never use this collar if you plan on sending your dog to a doggy day camp or other place where you have unsupervised play with random dogs get a cheap buckle collar for that and this for your walks. The D ring that pulls the neck can get grabbed by other dogs and cause your dog to choke and if it's too tight they can loose air. Only use these collars when you are walking and are close by in play groups where you can get involved to prevent collar biting and pulling during play. I do not leave these collars on my dogs when they are in the home I use them exclusively for walking the park and when im out and about and can supervise my dogs play and stop collar biting.

I went through probably 4-5 different collars for my pup, before we found this one. It fits perfectly and never slips off (once adjusted to the right size). I really like that the material seems relatively soft (as opposed to some others that are so stiff that they seem like they would be uncomfortable). I also like that it has a little plastic piece on it to hang tags from rather than hanging them from the D ring. It helps cut back on some of the noise. The only issue I had with the collar was around the edges where it is sewn together. Most of the edges seemed kind of sharp. It felt like it was scratching my hands when I pet near the collar, although it never seemed to bother my pup. After a few days, I took a lighter and melted down all the edges a little. Problem solved. I've added some pictures to illustrate the area where I melted it down. We've been using this collar for about 4 months now and it is holding up great.Note: Ignore the silver ID tag attached to the collar in the photos. That did NOT come with the collar.

Looks great on a Dalmatian or white Staffie, our Dotty loves it, compfy, and a beautiful Purple. This collar keeps your dog with you, no chance of slipping out of it, if you have an "escape artist". Always get the collar without a buckle. A good Martingale collar should not need a buckle and should be adjustable like this one.

We put this collar on our Podenco the day she arrived from the rescue shelter about 6 months ago, and it has not been off her since. It still looks as good as new with no wear to show what-so-ever. It is rarely used as a collar for walking because our dog is incredibly nervous so she requires a three-point harness for walking. That said, I think this collar is durable anyway. I guess that it is very comfortable for her to wear. She has never scratched at it, or attemped to claw at it. There is absolutely no rubbing underneath either, so no rash or fur problems at all. I highly recommend this Martingal collar by PetSafe.

We have used the PetSafe Martingale Collars for years with all our dogs. No escaping from these! They last and last. We launder fairly regularly - just throw them in when we do our "dog" laundry. Excellent product and will continue to purchase as long as we have dogs! Love these collars!
