Belay device with cam-assisted blocking

Designed for all users, the GRIGRI is a belay device with assisted blocking for belaying both in the gym and at the crag. The cam-assisted blocking function makes belaying more convenient when a climber is working a route or when catching a fall. The design of the handled camming mechanism enables exceptional descent control. Compact and lightweight, it can be used with all single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm.

At first it has a good looking, and the price is lower than climbing gym. The quality of grigri is as good as other which may cost you over $100. Definitely recommend

This is an awesome product , im new to climbing, the grigri is easy to hook up and use , works great , get one , try it out just standing on the ground until you see how it works , just lean back and let your weight lock it in , i did this several times before ascending , also try it out descending on the ground , theres a fine line between some friction and NO friction , but , just let lever go and it will lock up again ,,,

I bought this after a friend of mine at the gym took a fall due to faulty belaying technique. The device adds an extra layer of safety and confidence when lead climbing. It's very easy to use! on top-rope it's just like using an ATC, and on lead the only thing I had to be shown how to do was put in slack quickly. (It locks up if you try to pull too much too fast, but there are methods that help prevent this.) In my opinion, this is much simpler to use than the grigri plus. Many of my friends at the gym who have the plus say they hate it and wish they had bought this one instead.

I am new to climbing in general and at using a gri gri belay, nice device but what i noticed was any slack given it is not forgiving. It will hesitate before locking up. Also, i would be using for saddle hunting and the mechanism itself is very loud. I returned the gri gri and went with trango vergo belay instead. MUCH, much more forgiving to slack and not nearly as loud to assemble.

The GriGri is amazing! I love how it lowers climbers. This isn't a product to make your belaying lazy. Please pay attention to the climber and belay properly at all times.

Bought it for my wife when she was doing her lead certification. You all know what this is and it needs no review.This version may no longer be available by the time you read this review, replaced by the 2 and + models, one can take narrower rope and the other has a panic function (for newer climbers or those wwhobwant the added security) respectively.
