Updated review 11 SEPT 2024.After further investigation when I discovered CO2 leakage when carbonating a bottle, I thought the culprit was the pressure release valve that was sticking open but actually there is an issue with the gasket where the bottle screws in. Sometimes, the gasket does not seal the bottle properly leading to massive CO2 leakages so I added an O-ring big enough to fit around the conical gasket and I do not get any leakage anymore.New update: While the O-ring helped write a bit in keeping the CO2 inside the bottle during the filling, I discovered that the thread is actually the worst I ever saw, the bottle almost never screws itself upright but always at a slight angle whatever the way you try, so 3 times out of 4 you have to unscrew the bottle when hearing the CO2 leaking, then re-screw it again and again until it does not leak anymore.This is a massive design flaw.I am starting to regret having invested in so many bottles to have a rotation in usage as they are not cheap and proprietary ... lesson learned.

Been wanting a SodaStream for several years now and at various times of year they go on sale so I checked. So many new models and each one uglier than the last. If they offered one in pink I mightรขโฌโขve bought one anyway but no. Down in the รขโฌลOthers to considerรขโฌย section they had a Philips on sale that looks like it was designed by brAun in 1970 when they made the best coffee makers in the world. Very minimalist รขโฌโ just a base, a cylindrical covering for the CO2 cartridge and an arm to charge the bottle. The actual epitome of Form Follows Function resulting in an absolutely beautiful product. And it comes in Pink w a pink bottle! And black, white and blue, the black and white also available w a stainless band around the arm and a stainless trimmed bottle for an extra $5. One downside tho the bottle needs to be replaced every 24 months after first use and Iรขโฌโขm a bit worried Philips might discontinue the product and with it the replacement bottles รขโฌโ as Electrolux did w my air purifierรขโฌโขs filters รขโฌโ so Iรขโฌโขll probably buy a couple for later use, only available in black, white and stainless. Unlike SodaStream you need to buy the cartridges separately so it ended up a bit more than the cheapest SodaStream when itรขโฌโขs on sale as it was last weekend but itรขโฌโขs worth it.So the Philips works great and very simple. Bought Cherry Cola flavor which is always out of stock when Coke goes on sale. Lots of flavors available and w the cherry cola I only used half the recommended amount and itรขโฌโขs just perfect as I typically mix everything รขโฌโ soda and fruit juices รขโฌโ w water anyway. One downside about the flavors tho, they use both sugar and sugar substitutes. Iรขโฌโขd rather have just sugar for the afternoon pick me up.

I already have this machine in my house and now purchased a different color as a house warming gift for a friend. She loves it! Works fine. However, the bottle that comes with it retains fizziness very little time. I recommend storing the soda in a different bottle. It will last longer.

I thought the design and the price point were great. I also bought this one on Amazon Warehouse, labeled "like new". Surely, only the package was damaged on arrival and all parts seemed totally unused. However, on using the unit, it seemed to leak when carbonating, and I am not sure if this is normal for this model or if this one was flawed. Our CO2 bottle ran out after about 30L on my estimation (should last to about 60L), which furthered my suspicion that it was leaking. I returned mine!UPDATE 7/11/23: Phillips contacted me and offered to send another unit, citing that the first may have been defective. Sure enough, the replacement does not seem to leak; it sounds different than the first unit did when adding the CO2. Again, I love the simple, minimalist design--this was our number one choice for design and looking good in our kitchen. We are keeping the replacement unit and are very happy with it!

This product makes the perfect drink for three drinks and then steadily reduces in fizziness to flat water extremely fast. I only get 5-7 drinks before it no longer fizzes my water. Very disappointed about how few drinks are able to be made per canister of CO2. Wouldnรขโฌโขt buy again

I'm not related nor paid for this review.At EVERY gaz injection burst, low pressure and a lot is - you can hear it - lost from the security valve in the machine. As well, we loose a lot of gaz in the empty section in the bottle (the part above the liquid): We cannot mix the gaz in the water before we oppen the bottle.Mainly: I needed 6-8 bursts of 4 seconds, everytime, with a lot wasted by the security valv at the end of each burst.At 3rd gaz tank, without apparent reason, most gaz is heard leaking from the machine and not going into the bottle.I tried another brand in which the same tank worked perfectly: namely the Drinkmate OmniFizz.It's day and night compared to the Philips. This machine is unbealeavable compared to the other one:The system seams designed for handling more pressure in least amounth of bursts, but in a safe way.The Drinkmate OmniFizz security valve triggers only when the bottle is filled at maximum pressure allowed, only after 1 to 3 short bursts of 1 second. Even one 1-second burst can do the job sometimes. Then the other genius advantage: we can take the bottle out of the machine without openning it yet. We then can put it upside down or gently shake it for the accumulated gaz at the top mix with the liquid. All that, before we open the bottle! But still the bottle is filled with pressure, we can release it by a manual valve, before opening the bottle in a safe. (It's really a different design philosophy serving a higher pressure)Finally, we don't need to screw and unscrew the bottle: just a tiny horizontal twist until it clicks. Result: faster handling, lots of gaz, shorted operation time.Even though there remains a lot of pressure tou outgaz, before we open the bottle, I feel it uses less gaz for the same result.I consider my Phillips machine useless (But sold by Amazon, Philips refunded it to me, just by shortly describing the problem, they didn't even bother to help solve it). I think they know their design problems.

This item should NOT be sold in Australia.We tried Phillips and Sodastream CO2 cannister and both are the wrong thread so do not work.. We sent it back but won't receive refund for at least 30 days. Nowhere online does it state the cannister and unit may be incompatible. I called Phillips and they confirmed we cannot use this Unit in Australia as no cannister will fit.Shame on Amazon for selling unusable products. Yes Phillips have raised this with Amazon multiple times but Amazon continue selling.
