I’m using this in line with my soundbar’s sub output (which had a very weak signal). It worked nicely to boost the audio signal so the sub now works as it should. We use our soundbar for movies, but often just for streaming music too (Bluetooth, Pandora, etc). Unfortunately, the soundbar’s sub output was super weak. Before, my soundbar’s sub output signal was so weak, it often wouldn’t even turn the subwoofer on (it’s an auto-on subwoofer that powers on when it senses an audio signal). And when it worked, the sub signal was so weak, it sounded like there was no subwoofer at all, even when the subwoofer’s volume was all the way up. You had to get right next to it to even know it was doing anything.Putting this in line between my soundbar’s RCA output and my subwoofer’s RCA input boosted the signal perfectly so I can now hear the subwoofer nicely. The volume knob on the subwoofer now will go from relatively quiet to full dance party mode.I had no issues with the “hum†that others have mentioned. It’s as quiet as can be, and I don’t even have the optional ground wire hooked up. It does have a ground wire connection on it, so connecting that to the chassis of your stereo, turntable, subwoofer, etc, would likely eliminate much of the hum people have mentioned (I’ve had hum issues on my other stereo and a ground wire connecting all the audio components’ chassis together solved it).I’d definitely recommend this if your system is sending a low level signal to another component that just doesn’t have enough uumph to get the audio levels that it should be getting.

I have only had this a short time but so far it’s working great with no added noise that I can detect. The purpose of this device is to convert the low level signal from a magnetic phono cartridge to the inputs of a receiver or amplifier or recorder that DOES NOT HAVE a dedicated phono input. Any other use such as connecting it directly to amplified speakers is at your own risk. It has RCA stereo in and out sockets. NO TRS, the Amazon description is wrong but the photo is correct. It also has a ground terminal which should be connected to the turntable to eliminate hum.

The one I received was defective (channels cut out intermittently) so I immediately returned it. It appeared to have been returned previously by another customer (who perhaps had the same issue).

If you experience a low harm like I did, it’s likely due to it not being grounded properly. Make sure you take the small wire from your turntable and attach that wire to the preamp grounding. Screw. Once I did that, the hum disappeared.

Used this with a vintage Realistic receiver that lacked a built-in phono preamp. Works as expected, no issues whatsoever, I highly recommend it. And what a bargain!
