Optimal Measurement Conditions
- Material Thickness: Measure materials between 20 mm (0.78 inches) and 40 mm (1.57 inches). For thicker materials, readings are at 20 mm depth.
- Avoid Metal: Keep the area free of metal within 2 inches.
- Body Distance: Keep fingers and body parts away from the sensor during measurement.
Common Measurement Errors
- Nearby Metal: If metal objects, pipes, or wires are within **2 inches** (5 cm) of the material, the readings may be compromised.
- Wrong Mode: Always select the correct mode for the material being tested.

Opened item, placed the new batteries and off running. No leaks detected where I had pipes repaired by local plumber. Reading was never higher than 0.3. Went to an area (not a wall) that was damp and reading was like 15. Works great.

This unit was not expensive, it is easy to use and it registers a percentage on the woods I tried it out on. I have nothing to compare it to but it does give me a baseline to determine the moisture of the wood prior to starting a project.

I purchased this tool after a basement flood, as I needed to know where to cut the wall board since not all walls were impacted. It is super easy to use, has four settings - wall, soft wood, hardwood and masonry, large digital screen, fully audible beeping when moisture is detected. And it is nicely ergonomically designed, allowing for easy passes over the surfaces.

We had a water leak due to some loose roof shingles. I found the damp spot with this meter. We had it fixed, and then I waited a week for a big rain storm and held this meter to the ceiling and proved that it was now dry.
