Moisture detection works good. However the temp reading that is also shown does not refresh quickly, so when changing rooms/areas, you'll have to turn it off, wait 10 seconds or so, and then turn it back on (if you want/need accurate temp readings).

Compared to the far more expensive units this one worked great for us. I compared it to my meter that was over 600 bucks and this one held its own.

Works fine, easy to read, also gives ambient temperature. I use this meter to confirm moisture status on pressure treated wood determining if it's at risk for warping or shrinkage. Critical for making furniture.

Not sure how accurate it is, but for a novice like me it gives me peace of mind when it comes to my basement walls. Really easy to use, just popped in the included batteries (it comes with a screw driver to take off the battery cover), and turn it on. Mine was already set to drywall, but the SEL button switches between the different surfaces. I only have needed to use it for my drywall in my basement, and it's just a matter of putting the tool head up against the wall. It shows that my walls are dry, and I haven't been having any mold/mildew issues in my basement so far, so I'm basing the accuracy off of that.The device itself looks very well made, and the screen is large, crisp, and bright. Very easy to read and use. The included cloth zip around case is great for storage, I hang it from the attached loop handle.Overall, I'm happy I decided to get this. It's nice to be able to check moisture levels around my house when I'm getting paranoid about leaks and whatnot. Would recommend.

I’ve seen a lot of woodworking videos where a painless moisture meter like this was used to test slabs and rough lumber. I have also seen a ton of home inspection videos where a similar moisture meter was used to find plumbing leaks behind drywall. It was just too cool and I had to have one of my very own.The display on this unit does not photograph well, but is amazingly bright crisp and colorful in person. The different modes for hardwood, softwood, drywall and masonry likely provide much more accurate results than a one for all type approach. The included nylon zipper case is simple but well-made and well fitting. The only small fault I could find with the unit is that the power and select buttons tend to stick due to their shape, tho this may improve with some use. Overall it looks to be a quality meter and I look forward to using it on some rough lumber and slab projects I have coming up.

Very easy to use; just pop the batteries in. Within 20 minutes of delivery I have been around the rooms of my rather old house and confirmed that the walls I have treated for damp are now dry, and confirmed some additional areas (which I had my suspicions about) are slightly damp, including a wall immediately below a chimney. I will monitor walls as the summer progresses into autumn and winter to see whether more damp remedial work is needed. The handset feels sturdy and looks well made. The screen is clear and easy to read. Measurements tallied when I returned to sections of walls to take confirmatory readings indicating accurate working of the meter and that it is not throwing out spurious readings.A useful tool for my caravan too. A periodic survey of the walls and ceiling will also reassure it remains rain-tight.Recommended.
