We recently added several girls to our flock of chickens, and weeks later there were three hens that seemed to think they were in charge of the new girls and just would not relent. It was to the point of being brutal because often they would chase them down and pull on their neck feathers making them fall out or peck them in the head repeatedly. I realize that pecking order is a thing, but some of the other girls hardly pecked the new girls at all. Roosting was so traumatic that I had to separate two of the newer hens to another chicken run. I left the other hen inside the run because she was part of the original hens. She became worse, and I knew I had to do something or else my new girls would suffer greatly from injuries. Our last resort was to rehome the three bully hens. It was a little nerve racking getting these fitted on the bully hens, but now I can rest easier knowing that there won’t be blood or critical injuries. It was well worth it, and I’m glad we ordered these to keep our chickens from getting severely bullied.
