Why didn't I get these for my African Grey years ago? I bought many of what I thought were sanding perches to keep my Africa Grey's nails in check. I inherited my parrot from my grandmother who bought him in a pet store in Florida in the late 80s. He was not hand raised, but they told her she could train him and sold her a book. He has never been able to be handled by anyone but me, so I inherited him. I always used thick welding gloves to handle him because his nails were so sharp despite having large sanding perches in his cage. He would not let anyone trim them, so the perches were the only way to keep them in check for him to be comfortable. I got these perches for some new climbing levels for his cage and hoped that they would trim his nails. I worried that these were too small of a diameter for him and that they were just 1" wooden dowels painted with a heavily sanded paint. In a few days, his nails were starting to trim down. A few weeks in and his nails are perfect for him and me, though I still have to use gloves to handle him. He will never be a cuddly bird, but he was entrusted to me by my grandmother's love. I miss her and get to hear her from him every day. This perches make him more comfortable and that is the important thing.

These are good perches, I use them for my Quaker's. They are too large for a budgie and too small for a Grey. I feel they are true to size for a medium-sized parrot. I bought one set and when I saw how well they worked for my parrots I then bought a 2nd set. You will get random colors.I will buy these again as needed.

My African Gray seems to like them just fine. The vet said they were good, so they must be!

I should have read the description more thoroughly.The circumference is quite all, even for a parakeet.There a basically a wood dowel that is coated.They serve their purpose. The quality is ok, but not great.Good for VERY small birds.

My little parrot loves to rub her beak and claws on these and has even rubbed wooden toys on them. I think she really likes the way they feel and I really like that they came in three lengths and pretty colors.

Don't waste your time nor money buying this for a parot. Only had these for a day and he's already destroyed one. Just not made out of good materials.

I love these products and so do my birds but my only gripe is that i have been missing a few pieces of the hardware. I have been missing the hardware for at least one piece when I purchase a set. Yes I could go get it myself but if I'm going to hardware store then I might as well make these myself. Overall great product just don't forget hardware for all pieces.

These are too small as shown in picture its for small budgies and they have put pictures of big bird.
