I already have carbon monoxide detectors embedded in my smoke alarms, which are installed per code on various ceilings around my home. I got this detector specifically to use in the basement in the vicinity of my forced hot air furnace and water heater, both fueled by natural gas. The detector operates per its instructions and the push-to-test function sounded accordingly, but its unlikely I'll hear it go off unless I happen to also be in the basement at the time; it's a "gentle" alarm. The price has dropped considerably since I ordered it, so it's a better value now at ~$24. It's worthy of your consideration for added safety.

I did not realize when I ordered this CO2 detector that it came from a non-US company. That may be fine for a number of products, but when it comes to my family's safety, I'm not taking any chances. There is absolutely no safety rating or certification whatsoever on this CO2 detector. Had I realized that, I would not have ordered it. It is absolutely not recommended to purchase a CO2 detector without a UL listing. This is going in the trash. What a waste!

When I got the carbon monoxide detector I learned from the information in the box that the device should be installed near the ceiling, to accurately detect. Really??? A plug in detector installed near ceiling. Am I going to hire an electrician to install a wall plug near the ceiling, no. Am I going to run an extension cord up the wall to place devise near ceiling, no.If it really needs to be near ceiling to detect carbon dioxide it is worthless and opens manufacturer up to big time liability! Very disappointing!

Have this as a redundant CO / Gas Detector in the Basement. I was able to "test" the CO function by putting it on an outlet near our stove and then turning on the burners to high. Saw the CO go up slightly then go down as I turned them off. Moved to the basement from there. It does need a 9v battery that is not included. It is stated as such and is not that big a deal, but I do prefer products that include the battery...Other than that, so far so good.
