I bought this with the intention of inspecting coins, but the magnification is way too great. The description is correct, it would be great for kids with exploration and adventure in mind. When I looked through it, at 60X, you could see the fibers of paper on an envelope, so that's how much magnification it has. The pictures are just so you get an idea of how small this is. It will get lost very easily if you buy it for a child.

My kids loves these! They function pretty well for the price and are easy to use. They are super light and have been durable. My kids have enjoyed finding stuff in the house and outside to inspect. This is a really fun little gift to get kids exploring.
