I bought this product to make sure there was no leak in my pool.I built swimming pools for years, and this is a product I will use in the future. It shines bright during the day, and stays in the pool for a decent length of time.

This was incredibly easy to use and saved me almost 200 in call out cost for a leak detection company. Turned the pump off, waited 15 mins for water to settle amd went to the usual suspects, skimmer mouth, corners of steps, jets. 2nd jet had a leak that was made extremely obvious at the dye was.getting sucked into a hole the size of a grain of sand! Used pool putty to repair and so far so good. There is plenty in the bottle (doesn't even look like I used any to be honest) so it will last a lifetime. Great value at this price if you're handy and don't mind getting wet!.

Works as advertised. Color stands out in water. Only wish I had a needle 2 ft long to be able to get to lights.

Useless unless the leak is sizable.

There was a small crack in my pool that extended from the top of the tile (above the waterline) all the way down to the bottom (shallow end, 3') that was professionally repaired about five years ago. The pool water level is currently a little low, and I noticed that even with the periodic winter rains that are now here, the water level has not come up. So I checked the site of the old crack, and sure enough, a small hairline has opened up below the current waterline. Before I call the professionals, I decided to use this product to inexpensively see what I could detect on my own. I waited over a week to try it, because I thought it would be most visible on a sunny day, and most effective when the water is very calm -- no wind. Lately we've had overcast, sometimes windy and sometimes rain. I finally decided to go for it today anyway, with heavy overcast and only moderate wind (6mph).It turns out that the "fluorescent" color of the dye is plenty bright enough to be seen on an overcast day, perhaps even more so than on a sunny day since there is nothing for it to compete with. I did find it to be almost impossible, though, to create a small thread of the stuff in the water, since even the slightest pressure on the syringe released a moderate size cloud. The bright color of the cloud lasted as long as the cloud stayed together, at least a couple minutes in my conditions, except for the part closest to the surface, which was pushed away by the surface current (wind).Observing the dye cloud right at the hairline crack, though, I did not see any of it drawn in, so that's the good news, I guess. I am going to wait for the rain to fill the pool to a higher level, or if it doesn't, add my own expensive California water to raise the level an inch, and test the part of the crack that's above the present waterline and a little wider. Perhaps it's only leaking there. I'll report back if I get positive results from this product.I like that this comes with two different thin metal applicators. I didn't need to use the angled one, but it may come in handy in the future.
