I am elderly & it was too hard to empty the leaf basket on my pool. This works perfect for twisting the basket out without me having to get on my hands & knees to do it.

I bought this pole after an incident with a snake. There are snakes from time to tins in my pool skimmer, which isn’t unusual where we live. I bought this pole to lift the skimmer lids so no one encounters a snake up close. We’ve found one poisonous snake in our skimmer and that was one to many. I love that this pole allows for distance when lifting the lids.

Longer than I needed but to my surprise locking down the handles to my custom needed length works very well. Makes it much easier on my old knees as I use it to remove the cover and basket from my pool skimmer as well as lifting items from the bottom of the pool itself. Recommended.

This works well for a skimmer basket, which is light; opens and closes easily. However, I tried to used it to lift my pool robot and it's not strong enough for that. The weight of the robot fully extended the pole, it was hard to keep hold with wet hands (as one gets while working on a pool) and it's harder to lift when fully extended. Wouldn't recommend for that use.But - it's clearly advertised as a skimmer basket hook, so as long as your skimmer isn't quite full of leaves or heavy material, should work just fine.

Cleaning out the pool toys each week has become quite a chore but this hook let’s me reach further across the pool now. Works great!

I extended the pole to the length I wanted and tightened it down. It stayed in place!I no longer have to get on my knees to empty the basket, which is a wonderful thing.I also tried it with my pool cleaner to lift it out of the pool; it does a fine job of bringing it closer to the edge yet I am not strong enough to lift it out by the hook. it will save my electric wire from stretching out and I can now reach down to grab the cleaner with my hand.

Not the best quality.

First impressions. I like the telescoping pole for its length. That is the most positive. Now for the cons:1) The hook will not stay tight which make it cumbersome. I added red thread locker to it today in hopes that will resolve the issue.2) the hook is about an inch to long, in my view, again making it cumbersome to get the skimmer lid off. If I am not bending over or getting on my knees to pull the basket, I don’t want to do that for the lid either.3) I have a Hayward SP1080 series skimmer, square cover, round basket with a handle that is flat on the top, looking down on the skimmer basket and tapers from center to the attach points on the bottom side. This means a single hook is always going to cause the basket to tilt as it lifts and the hook slide up the taper to the edge of the basket at the attach point. Why is this an issue? It side loads the basket which fits into a skimmer doughnut cause the doughnut to unseat as well as allowing leaves, etc. to spill out of the basket and then get drawn to the pump basket. If it had a fork attachment the the fork prongs straddled the handle allowing a more even lift I would gladly pay for it. Effort. The discontinued skimmerbasketpuller that use to be sold here. Mind you it was not perfect but had a more even basket lift. All of the above are just my thoughts and review. I may cut the hook shorter once I know the thread locker is working and possibly make my on fork attachment using some 316L SS rod welled together with a threaded end.Again, the expanding handle is great. Nice adjustment for differing lengths. I probably should have picked up the version with the lanyard but saw no need since I will keep this in my deck box. But the lanyard could come in handy for any one wishing to hang it up.Also, if you have a skimmer basket with an arch style angle this should work just fine.
