This is a must have upgrade to the Tacoma. I don't know why Toyota chose not to have this from the factory. Even when the tailgate is removable they could have made a quick disconnect for a cable to hook up the lock to the rest of the car. Toyota is cheap that way. This kit is high quality, easily installed, and works really well. I am pretty handy and comfortable with DIY and it took me about 30 mins from start to finish. Worked the first time after I hooked everything up. With this I no longer worry about breaking the factory lock core on my tailgate which has started to go bad. I should have had this installed yesterday.

I have been looking for a remote locker for my 23 Tacoma tailgate for a yr. This is a great product and plugs right into the factory harness on the drivers side. The mechanism that goes in the tailgate is super easy to install. I just hope it lasts because the way it opens and closes is it has a long travel to move the locking mechanism. Im not sure what the warranty is.The instructions are not very good. You have to use the QR code and upload it onto your phone and then the pictures are very small (too close even when enlarged). Be nice if a paper version where in the box with the pictures a little further back so you can see more of the surroundings. Not too hard to figure out though as Im pretty mechanical. The box it came in looked like it was a used part though but the wiring harness didn't look used. It works though.

Works flawlessly. Install was easy, for the most part... The video instructions said to follow the main harness line under the truck and attach the long cable to it with zip ties. The problem is the main harness becomes un-accessible halfway down and is obstructed by bars, panels, ect... you cannot see up there, let alone get a hand in there. I could have had the unit installed in probably 40-minutes if this weren't an issue, but ended up taking 2-hrs... the instructions were also fairly vague. They don't show diagrams or focus the camera on the orientation of what they are doing while giving verbal directions. however, it becomes self-explanatory as you start to fit the parts in place.

Look people are gonna buy regardless but I want to let yall know I bought this product in June 2024 for $90. Barely been 6 months and the product has increased by $50 to now $140 in November 2024.They can't blame inflation or economics, it's just pure greed. Look at other companies before you give them your cash.I guess great, it's an American made product but still they were making a profit 6 months ago too. Greed.And yeah the product works, is great, and fairly simple to install within an hour.

This is a great project for beginners to learn how to route wires into their truck, FYI the grommet comes out under the drivers seat and if it’s a few years old will likely pop out when you try to stab it.

Installed on a 2018 Tacoma Access cab. Followed the YouTube video from Pop and Lock and it worked flawlessly. Install was relatively easy. The hardest part was routing the cable under the vehicle. Seems to work great and appears well made. Hopefully it holds up for a long time. Would highly recommend.
