If you want to lock your Frontier tailgate with your key fob, this gets the job done. Installing the locking mechanism - which seems to be a quality and heavy duty item - is quite easy. Running the wire not so much, but worth the effort. My 2020 has a backup camera located under the tailgate handle, with a wire harness running from the bottom of the tailgate to the truck bed. There is a rubber boot on the bottom of the tailgate and a plastic piece on the truck bed that clips in place to cover a rectangular hole that the harness goes through. I had to remove the tailgate and grind / file a notch in the corner of the hole on the truck bed to allow room for the extra wire and allow the plastic piece to clip in place properly. If you're careful, the lock wire can be run through the boot, inside the plastic wire protector and through the truck bed hole under the plastic hole cover. If done well, it looks factory finished. I chose to run my wire up the driver side and connect under the dash to the driver door circuit so it unlocks with a single click instead of two. Finding a way into the cab was not easy - it is very well sealed. There are holes with rubber plugs under the body, but no corresponding holes into the cab. I removed the plastic floor trim and drilled a hole under that which allowed me to feed the wire through one of the existing holes under the cab, up through my drilled hole, and under the floor trim. Of course the wire was fed through the hole plug under the cab and through a grommet in the hole I drilled to keep things sealed. Once you get the wire behind the kick panel, look for the harness that goes through the side of the cab to the driver's door. There is a brown plug that contains the wires you need to clip into. Disconnect the plug and remove the tape wrapped around the harness for easier access. I believe the wires were blue and gray as stated in another review. It's easy enough to check if you have a 12 volt probe. Both wires will light the probe depending on if you press lock or unlock on the remote. Also, they are smaller diameter wires - I was surprised at how small the lock circuit wires are. I have zero regrets after installing this. It works great, is super convenient, and with the push button start on the truck, I don't even have to carry the key anymore - just the key fob. If you are near the tailgate when you lock or unlock it, you will hear the mechanism activate, but I would not call it loud. If you use the door button to lock your doors as you exit, the horn beep drowns it out. I have a bed cover and need to lock / unlock my tailgate multiple times a day. The only way it could be better is if Nissan added it at the factory.

Update (07-14-2023): Over two years later and the mechanism continues to work reliably and well. I mentioned the loud noise upon actuation (audible thunk when engaging or disengaging). I’ve actually gotten to like it! Tells me audibly when the tailgate is locked or unlocked (and correspondingly the doors as well!). As noted above, the kit costs more than using generic actuators and wiring, but this made the installation so easy, that it was a no brained for me. That coupled with the clear durability makes this a winner for me.Original review (April 21, 2021): Great product! Seems like a strong and reliable product. Quality is apparent from single piece stainless components, CE marked actuator and all wiring harnesses. Could I have done this more cheaply using generic actuators and crafting my one connections? Maybe, but it seemed like a bigger project with no guarantee of success. I liked that this all came as a kit with ready to install components custom made for the Frontier. For that reason, the price was worth it for me.I installed this over the course of a morning on my 2019 Nissan Frontier. Despite being listed as only for 2010-2013 Nissan Frontier, the Generation 2 vehicle is unchanged in body and tailgate through model year 2020. Certainly worked fine on my 2019 Pro4-X. The one issue is that the mechanism is definitely loud, but other than that, it works great. Time will tell on longevity and reliability, but so far so good! Highly recommended.

Installed on my 2017 Nissan Frontier SV, no issues. Perfect fit in tailgate. Running the wire was the most time consuming but easy. Wire was run along the passenger side to the B-column and connected to the blue and purple wires for the rear right passenger door lock. Tailgate now locks/unlocks with the 2nd remote button press. Very satisfied overall (Even though the lock is a little louder than I want but tells me that it's working and unlocked/locked). Happy with my purchase.

I got tired of having to unlock my tailgate with the key since I have a tri-fold tonneau cover installed. Needed something that would work with the keyless fob so I installed this. The install was very easy but the instructions were horrible since it seems outdated. The product says it's only compatible up to 2014 but the frontier hasn't had major changes since 2005. It was a direct fit, bolted on my 2017 with no problems.# Pros- Easy installed.- Works on 2017 Frontier SV.- Convenient so I don't have to do it manually with the key. Perfect for those who have a cover.# Cons- It's kinda loud. Loudest lock solenoid on the truck.- Horrible instructions.- Says it works up to 2014 and they haven't updated the years for it. Shows how non up-to-date this company is with this product.# Conclusion- I really like this product and gave it 5 stars just because the added convenience is worth it. If you are good at googling or researching club frontier about which wires to tap into, then you will be all set. I wired this to the purple and solid blue (not light blue) on the BCM (the one with the black harness) and it opens on the 2nd unlock when the passenger locks are unlocked. I used wire terminals so I could disconnect if I had the wrong wire pair connected. I had to switch the green and blue wires around since it would unlock with lock and lock with unlock so the terminal disconnect was a good decision rather than soldering them in place to find out you have to cut and rewire again. Overall, very pleased with the product.

For some reason Amazon says that this won't work on my 2018 Pro-4X but I had no problem installing it. Fairly straight forward once you get the actuator to drop into place correctly. It is a great addition to the truck and makes life with it a bit easier.

this fits 2019 NISSAN FRONTIER. Quality solid unit. wire is long to get nto cab to splice factory harnes. not long enough to engine bay to cab for independent push button and wireless fob relay. about 4 feet short. EXCELLENT kit.

Works absolutely perfectly! The only thing that I would change is to try to somehow figure out how to make it quieter... It is very loud when locking and unlocking!!

Kit comes with everything you need ( well it could use 5 or 6 more zip ties) but you have to wpend some time under your truck arranging the wiring. I wnet down the passengers side frame rail to a body plug on the bottom under the passengers seat in order to bring the wire into the cab. Then the B-pillar trim needs to come off to get access to the wiring harness. Other than that my only complaint is the solenoid is really loud! you def know when the gate is locked or unlocked!
