remove smell from well water city water and safe with water softener

CORRO-PROTEC IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE A WATER SOFTENER

Corro-Protec anodes are safe with any water sources (city and well water) and water treatment systems (water softener, filtration, reverse osmosis, etc.).

It's worth knowing that water softeners can be very aggressive in causing corrosion because soft water is conducive, and thus prone to, corrosion. Additionally, they can promote the growth of Sulfur Reducing B (SRB), which is typically responsible for the rotten egg smell in hot water. The Corro-Protec powered anode rod will automatically adjust its current to provide optimum corrosion protection.

24-HOUR ROTTEN EGG SMELL ELIMINATION IN HOT WATER

Corro-Protec will remove the sulfur smell from well water and city water and is especially effective in hot water.

No matter what causes the sulfur odor in your hot water, the Corro-Protec powered anode rod offers a reliable and cost-effective solution for neutralizing it. Moreover, it is a time-efficient answer to your problem, as it requires no maintenance and does not involve the use of chemicals like hydrogen peroxide or bleach.

Once the system is operational, the energy projected by our powered anode rod will prevent these unpleasant smells for years to come! If the foul smell also originates from the cold water, it means that your water source is contaminated. In that case, Corro-Protec will help by reducing the odor in hot water but won't solve this issue in cold water.

Sulfur smell in hot water is a common issue around North America and affects both new and old water heaters. Rest assured, Corro-Protec is your trusted solution to effectively eliminate this persistent problem.

Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod (titanium) VS Sacrificial anodes (magnesium, zinc and/or aluminum)

corro-protec powered anode rod for water heater corro protect water heater anode rod
A safe and small amount of current induced in the water heater tank by the powered anode rod

The Corro-Protec anode uses a completely different technology than sacrificial anode.

This technology will last much longer and will offer better protection to your tank.

Corro-Protec powered anode rods are Smaller, More Durable (20 years) & Better than any sacrificial anode rods.

  • Corro-Protec anodes are continuously tested in our lab in order to offer you safe and effective products.

Anode rod for hot water heater

CORRO-PROTEC POWERED ANODE ROD HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND TESTED TO LAST FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS

When a hot water tank is exposed to corrosive water, the sacrificial anode will transfer electrons to the inner side of the hot water tank to protect it. The anode will slowly deplete. After a year or so, there will be no more protection.

To protect your tank, replace the existing anode with a Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod and connect the current rectifier. Our Corro-Protec combined with the electrical current will provide improved corrosion protection & increase the life of your water heater.

  • Powered anode rods are made of stable materials (titanium) that do not disintegrate like sacrificial anode (magnesium, aluminum and zinc).
  • A powered anode rod generates permanent protection instead of temporary protection.
  • Doesn’t require any maintenance like sacrificial anodes.
  • 12-inch long powered anode rods greatly facilitate installation in restricted space.
  • Safe to use with a water softener, and well and city water.

Experience the advantages of the Corro-Protec powered anode rod for water heater today.

Powered anode rods prevent problems, not create new ones.

Uncertain about the existing anode's location? Whether it's in a dedicated port or integral to the pipe nipple in the hot water outlet, consult your digital or printed water heater owner's manual for easy guidance.

Dual anodes? One Corro-Protec powered anode is enough, so leave one of the existing anodes in place, and it won't cause any problems.

Hard-to-remove anodes or stripped top nut? Our installation manual provides valuable tricks, including the use of a breaker bar and impact wrench. Consider our 'Bradford White anode model' as your final solution, installable in the hot water outlet.

Tight clearance? Cut the existing anode into pieces, use pliers to ensure that it doesn't fall into the tank, and install our 12-inch Corro-Protec powered anode rod.

remove sulfur smell from well water, water heater cleaner and rotten egg smell in well water

Maintenance made simple, enjoy peace of mind.

Switch to durable solutions as the Corro-Protec powered anode rod and move away from temporary chemical treatments. Methods like chlorinating the inner shell, injecting hydrogen peroxide, or using a well sanitizer kit may address smelly water issues temporarily. However, these solutions provide only brief relief.

Draining the water heater annually is recommended. But if you find yourself needing to drain it every month or so, it's an utter waste of time and effort, especially when a permanent solution is available.

Eliminate the sulfur smell by installing the Corro-Protec powered anode. It's designed not only to protect the inner shell from corrosion but also to prevent Sulfate-Reducing B (SRB) from thriving. This stops the chemical reactions that cause the sulfur smell, ensuring your hot water remains fresh and odor-free for years to come.

Every small effort counts. Save money while helping the environment.

First and foremost, installing the Corro-Protec powered anode in your water heater will help you save money on parts and tanks by extending the lifespan of your equipment and avoiding programmed obsolescence. Additionally, to save on energy costs, consider choosing an Energy Star unit paired with the powered anode to further safeguard your appliance.

Delaying the disposal of your water heater is crucial for the environment, as it helps reduce unnecessary waste in landfills. Consider this: more than 8 million water heaters and parts are discarded every year. Imagine the environmental impact of cutting this number in half.

Protecting the inner shell of your water heater with cathodic protection is the best long-term solution available. Corro-Protec offers its anode rod designed to last 20 years. It's a safe and easy way to reduce landfill waste!

Like so many others my water smelled awful. I installed filters (not hydrogen sulfide) and chlorinated the well, only for the smell to return. This one has been a week now and still no odor. As advertised the smell was gone in 24 hours. It was relatively easy to install as well.

First of all I would like to mention that I very seldom write reviews for anything that I purchase. I just don’t like to take the time to do it. I will gladly make an exception to the rule for this product however.I recently switched over from LP gas to natural gas, and in doing so I had a new water heater installed at the same time. Within a couple of months I started noticing an odor (like rotten eggs) when taking a shower or just running the hot water. The smell got continuously worse to the point that I dreaded taking a shower. I did some research and found that if you have soft water (which I have) that you need to switch from a magnesium anode rod to an aluminum one. Then I started reading how the aluminum ones break down quickly and need to be replaced every couple of years (at $40 a pop). They also leave a bunch of black crud in the bottom of your tank and causes premature failure of the water heater. Then I found this product and after reading numerous positive reviews decided to order one. While not cheap, if it lasts for 20 years it will more than pay for itself compared to the aluminum rods. If it helps prolong the life of my water heater it will definitely pay for itself. Now for the best part of the review. Within 24 hours of installing this rod (which was a piece of cake) the smell was totally gone. For 25 years my hot water had a certain smell and taste to it that I just grew accustomed to, never to the extent of what happened with the new water heater but nonetheless it was there. Now there is no smell or taste to the hot water and this literally happened overnight. Unbelievable!I highly recommend this product. I have only had it installed for a couple of months so it remains to be seen how long it actually lasts, but it should last the life of water heater (or longer) with a 20 year warranty.

After a couple weeks of a bad sulfur smell from our well water, I installed this product with the hopes it would cut down it while showering and doing dishes. It definitely worked as advertised and the smell has significantly decreased and it practically unnoticeable when using just the hot water. Unfortunately, nothing to do with the product, the cold water continues to have a sulfur smell. I would highly recommend this product for well water regardless if you have a sulfur smell or not to prevent it occurring in the future and to protect your equipment, and especially if you do have a smell as it definitively does work. Installation was very easy and anyone with a ratchet/breaker bar, required sized sockets, and a screw driver can install in about 10 mins or less.

I live on a well property and while I was able to put in a whole house filter to handle the cold water issues, the hot water rotten egg smell left me baffled. As luck would have it, I had to replace the hot water heater recently and hoped this would help solve the issue. Turns out, the fresh sacrificial anode made the smell WORSE! I didn't want to crank my water to 160 degrees for safety reasons, so I figured I would try this unit as a potential fix.Getting the rod out of the water heater took an impact wrench and a hack saw, but once I was past that, installation of this unit was a matter of a couple minutes.Within 4 hours, I was told by the wife that the hot water no longer smelled. I chalked it up to flushing the tank. However, the smell did disappear for good. Now, we have perfect hot water. Our softener and this unit provide for wonderful showers and clean odor-free water. Amazing!

Currently have it installed for about two weeks now, wife was complaining every time she did laundry she could smell rotten eggs. I also noticed it, in some of the bathroom sinks when I would turn on the water. I pulled out the old sacrificial anode, and there was nothing left of it, so I ordered this device it installs very easily and then you plug it in.so far so good no more rotten egg smell and it should never go bad 20 year warranty. There is no sacrificial anode, it’s a titanium rod, and you connect the wires and applies a very low voltage to the rod.

We switched from oil fired hot water to electric hot water tank a couple months ago, and after awhile the hot water really started to get a sulfurous smell to it. After a little google search and came upon this fix., we ordered it up and amazon delivered in 2 days.. The removal of the old anode was pretty difficult as a ratchet and cheater bar wouldn't budge the old rod,, but a 600 ft/lb electric impact did the job quickly.. the new electric anode went in smoothly, and within 24 hours there is 0 smell in the hot water.. 3 days later still nothing..Very good product so far..

After having a new hot water tank installed the water began to smell and after about two weeks was unbearable as well we had air in the lines that wouldn't go away no matter what I tried. So I purchased this powered anode rod and within the next day the smell was gone, the air was gone and everything was back to normal. It's been about a month now and everything is still working the way it should one of the best purchases I've made worth evert penny

Installation was easier than taking out the old anode rod. Next morning no smell but 3 days later the smell was back a bit. I am re-flushing my system and have added a bit of chlorine to help get rid of any odour causing acteria that were in the system. ALSO, copy the Serial number down before you install the Protec rod as the Serial number is hidden below the tank jacket once installed.
