Used it to vacuum out a pellet stove. Good attachments, strong vacuum pull, and no dust. Wait, did I mention no dust. Also, it's quieter than my shop vac.If you need a vacuum to clean up ashes, this is a great buy. It's not heavy, has wheels, and has a long cord and attachment hose.

I have a Quadra fire pellet stove that needs cleaning weekly. We burn about 70 bags per season. Most the paper filter vacuums leak dust where the top half of the vacuum meets the tank, motor to tank. Some air escapes with fine pellet stove dust. This vacuum has a nice rubber gasket that seals the tank to the top motor cover. No air leaks. The filter is actually a piece of cloth that is easy to shake clean outside. Unlike paper filters that are hard to clan and often need replacement. It's an innovative vacuum and works well for fine ash. May be suitable for drywall dust as well.

Never owned one of these before. I had no idea what to expect. A little under-whelming suction power wise. Like a house vacuum. Not at all like a shop vac (which is what I was hoping for). The small diameter hose is a big drawback for me. If you are trying to vacuum wet/damp ashes or chunks of wood the hose will clog easily. The motor runs very hot. As soon as you turn it on, you can feel the exhaust start heating up and getting hot before you even start vacuuming. Once you start vacuuming for a little while (about 10 minutes) the vacuum will shut off because it is over heated. It overheats and shuts off very rapidly within 1 - 2 minutes if the hose gets clogged.Once it's overheated, you have to wait quite a while (about 30 minutes) for it to cool back down enough to turn on again. Best to disassemble and clean to get more air to the motor if this happens. It's like the motor is air cooled but with the filter system there just isn't enough airflow to cool it down. It's not all bad. The filter system does work fantastically. No dust at all out the exhaust.Easy to empty for me. I can just dump it down a bank and shake the filter in the yard to clean it.If you are using this for a pellet stove or small coal stove using rice or pea this will work just fine maybe even great for you. If you are trying to use this to do your annual cleaning on a larger coal fired stoker with lots of fly ash, it'll get the job done eventually but be prepared to take a few breaks while the motor is cooling down. Based on suction, anything larger than buck coal I wouldn't even attempt to vacuum up with this.Do not purchase the accessory kit. Everything in the accessory kit is already included in the box.I would rate this 4 stars for a pellet or small coal stove.. a 2 or 3 for a larger stoker.

I just received this so my review is based on using it one time. I got a new fireplace grate which made removing the ash impossible with traditional tools. The vacuum has great suction, several tools to get in hard to reach areas and it's not overly noisy. Bye bye scooping ash into a bucket! I should have bought this sooner.

I have been using an old ash vac that came with my home when I bought it. I had no idea how weak it was until I got this and tried it, It's a game-changer!The brush and pellet stove attachments get it cleaned up quickly and thoroughly and the suction is strong.

It works amazing on boiler and furnace tune ups haven’t had a problem with it already got my moneys worth out of it. If you’re a HVAC technician I highly recommend it and it’s light weight.5 OUT OF 5

Beware, this is a small size shop vac (dry only) and a decent one for DIY jobs and would be a great product if advertised as such. Poor and dangerous as an ash vacuum. Motor overheats every time you use it and needs to cool off every few minutes. With a few inexpensive modifications it could become an ash vacuum. That’s all my feedback for potential buyers. Here are some free hints to the seller/manufacturer: modify the nozzle so it can easily reach deep into the stove, add an adjustable flow bypass (like they have on regular vacuum cleaner nozzles/hoses) to prevent clogging up of the nozzle, use a steel grate to stop the nylon filter from sticking to and melting the thermoplastic grate you're using now. Dealing with ash (cold ash as you imply in the operator's manual, yet not call it as such on the product) you are more than likely to encounter a hidden amber and yes it will melt the filter, smoldering filter will melt the plastic grate and together they’ll burn the motor filter. You already know about this flaw in the design. Ask yourself a question: how many families using wood stoves never share the tools and their duties in cleaning the stove? It will happen (not may but will happen) that someone not aware of the flaws in this product will use it for not completely cooled ash and burn down their house. Put a word “COLD†before the ASH VACUUM on your product so everyone touching it will know. I can use a regular shop vac for the same purpose you market this cheap substitute for an ash vac and pay less for it and have all family and guests know they’re using a tool for cold ash only.

I loved the power of this vacuum ! So efficient and not as noisy as the last one . Great value for money . I hope the company will help me now , as the lid has a crack all around the top and , alas , the suction has dwindled ! I have duct taped the crack but it is definitely not like it was .I don’t need to replace the whole thing just the lid !

This little unit was just what we needed to clean up the ashes from our wood fireplace. We avoid hot coals, just in case but it handles warm ones just fine. It’s a great little vacuum to pick up that really fine stuff you don’t want to put through your regular vacuum and it work much better than a shop vac. It does run hot but that stands to reason, seeing that the filter is made for such fine stuff.

I’ve had this vacuum for one month and have used it to clean out my wood stove five times. I look forward to using it. It does not have the intense suction power of a traditional shop vac, and I’m glad it doesn’t. It has just enough suction power for my needs. Perfect actually. I don’t use it to suck up all of the ash from my wood stoves firebox. No, I think that's a bit unrealistic because any way you slice it, all of that ash is going to undoubtedly block the filter and make the vacuum work harder. Although, I did try that, and it does work. I also sucked up some larger embers just to test the unit having no issues. However, the way I use this ash vacuum is; I carefully scoop out the bulk of the ash from my firebox into a bucket and have the end of the vacuum hose resting over the bucket so to suck up flying ash that is being dumped into the bucket. It does an excellent job at that without accidentally sucking in large embers like my powerful shop vac used to do. Perfect! I suck up small areas of ash, but I don’t use the vacuum to clean a heaping pile of ash from my firebox. I then hook up my central vac hardwood floor attachment to the ash vac and proceed to vacuum the wood crumbs on the floor. After all, having a wood stove is messy. The noise level of the vacuum is similar to a shop vac (possibly quieter) and acceptable in my opinion. I just wear ear plugs to protect my ears. So far, no complaints at all. I should mention that the clear plastic pellet stove attachment had that horrible chemically toxic “Made in China†smell that stunk up the entire package. However, for the past month, I had the clear plastic pellet stove attachment sitting outside and it now no longer smells.
