Introducing the Flooring Strap Clamp by POWERTEC. These must-have strapping clamps were primarily designed to allow the floor to stay tight while your adhesive is setting up, simplifying the installation of flooring materials. Featuring a simplistic design – this item functions primarily as a ratchet clamp tightening your flooring together, pulling and holding the pressure on the materials joints. The clamp's tight grip holds work material securely in place while the floor covering is in the process of being nailed or glued down. “This convenient tool supplies the clamping pressure, to take the pressure off of you. ” Versatile Design It’s ideal for laying parquet, laminate planks, floating hardwood, or tongue and groove flooring. It can also be used for float engineered flooring or gluing down solids to concrete, along with a wide variety of woodworking applications such as framing. Additionally, when you remove the clamp plates, this item can be used in lashing-strap install applications. Premium Build This flooring clamp possesses a heavy duty galvanized metal construction – offering a rust free and corrosion resistant housing. It’s perfectly paired with a 1” wide nylon strap that not only extends to over 13 feet (157 inches), giving you extended coverage for larger work surfaces – but flaunts an impressive clamping force of up to 220 lbs. for heavy duty projects. Easy-To-Use Whether you’re a professional or DIY enthusiast, this clamping strap provides a quick and hassle free set-up. Simply attached the clamp to the base and last row of flooring. Use the expandable strap as you lay each row of material. A failsafe thumb gap-setting screw insures impeccable, uniform results at your floor surface’s outer edges.

We used it to pull an entire room of laminate flooring 3/16”. It worked great.

These units were about a third the cost of name brands and I needed three to get me through, so I saved a couple of hundred dollars. After sorting out some minor glitches they are reliably doing the job I need them for.I had to adjust one unit to get it to release properly - by taking apart and bending a metal tab to correct position so the release plate could retract further.I had to re attach the strap that came off the anchor end of another unit - appears the loop ends are simply glued not sewn - fixed by re glueing with epoxy. The bolts used to hold the strap and the ratchet lever to the base plates need locktite nuts and the anchor end bolt that the strap loops around needs a threadless shank or sleeve or the thread will eventually cut through the strap fibres, weakening it, causing it to fail eventually.Ideally, the side tabs on the main body lower release plate could be slightly wider, or lateral movement better constrained, to prevent the lever cams slipping off on one side.

It is designed to be used on hardwood floor installs but i have used it more than once for outdoor decks , it is a lifesaver , allowed me to use deckboards that were less than desirable.

In concept this is a handy tool for flooring installation. It helps to draw together boards that are a bit warped. The problem is that the only type of flooring where this is a problem is natural wood. With that type of flooring, this tool leaves a lot to be desired.> For 3/4" (190mm) thick boards, the C channel works great on the groove side, but isn't deep enough to properly grab on the tongue side. It needs to be longer on one of the 2 ends.> Periodically the nut comes off the screw holding the strap end. There is no lock washer or threadlock used.> On my third use the sewing of the strap loop failed and I had to re-sew it.> The ratchet is very basic. It doesn't provide a lot of leverage and the hard metal groves can dig into the hand the tighter it gets.> Finally, as others have noted, the metal is a bit too thin. The strap end (with the pressure screw) bends with use. I've had to disassemble it and flatten it back out a couple of times now.Despite these issues, the tool has worked adequately for pulling together the boards I am installing prior to nailing them in place. From what I can tell, the more expensive options on Amazon all have the same construction and the same complaints. If you want to try the tool out, this is the one to buy for the price.(Note; As someone who likes to tinker, I replaced the ratchet on mine with a larger one taken from the plethora of tie down straps I have. I also changed out the screw holding the strap to a larger diameter bolt with a nylon lock nut. It took some modification to the plates to accomplish these changes. When resewing the loop at the end of the strap, I used a heavy-duty thread, went back forth a few times, and used a box and X pattern. These modifications fixed all but the first and last issues listed above.)

Typical poor quality control. 1 out of the 10 purchased fell apart just removing it out of the box. Second just gave up when trying to clamp. The web straps are heat melted to make the loop ends. So just simple pull force and rip the nylon straps apart. And several times I've been frustrated with the stubby ratcheting mechanism. You need both hands to release the tension. One to hold the latching paw and the second to fiddle with the tensioning ratchet to get it to reverse. I found that when your nearing the end and your frustrated on getting that last course of down, spending additional minutes fighting these clamps is the last thing you need when the glue is getting tacky.Well the next day - OMG these are horrible. Over 50% have broken. While disassembling to repair the non-sewed webbing, I found that at lest 2 were under 6ft in length. DO NOT BUY THESE. Or just keep the metal and use ratcheting tie-downs. What a mistake and bad building quality.

Used these to install a glue down engineered wood floor and they worked as expected. It was my first time installing any flooring and these really helped hold the boards in tight while I taped. Helps to use a glued or secured anchor piece at one end and another piece as a bracket at the other because the clamps tend to pop up when overtightened. The screws attached to the fastener pieces came off several times, so keep any eye that they are tight. The spindle for the strap is just a piece of plastic with rubber bands wrapped around, so not the easiest to work with.

Laying timber flooring. Brilliant. Once they’d loosened up a bit and we’d worked out not to let the straps unravel all over the floor.

Like: makes the laying of floor boards so much easier. Dislikes: the ratchet is threaded in reverse I.e. the traction pulls in the opposite direction. It would be easier to reverse the teeth on the ratchet to make the tool work more efficiently.

The item fell apart after a couple of cycles !The unit is poorly assembled, with the nuts not tightened sufficiently!Product would be improved with the use of locking nuts.Does it work ?Yes, it does work after reassembly! Not suitable of boards that required significant clamping pressure, but adequate for my current application !Would I buy it again ? Probably yes !

Got 4 of these to help while installing my hardwood floors. They work pretty good. One can a little bent and made it difficult to loosen. After bending a bit it works fine now.
