Product Description

PowMr's Off-Grid 48V 5000W Solar Inverter Pure Sine Wave Built in 80A MPPT

  1. Full digital voltage and current double closed loop control, advanced SPWM technology, output of pure sine wave.
  2. Lithium battery activation by PV solar or mains, allowing access of lead-acid battery and lithium battery.
  3. Available in 4 charging modes: Only Solar, Utility Priority, PV Priority, Utility & Solar hybrid charging, and two output modes are available, i.e. Inverter and Mains, to meet different application requirements.
  4. Advanced MPPT technology with an efficiency of 99.9%. Built in 80amp MPPT controller
  5. Designed with a LCD screen and 3 LED indicators for dynamic display of system data and operating status.
  6. Power saving mode available to reduce no-load loss.
  7. Intelligent variable speed fan to efficiently dissipate heat and extend system life.
  8. ON/OFF rocker switch for AC output control.
  9. Complete protections, including short circuit protection, over-voltage and under-voltage protection, overload protection, reverse protection, etc.
  10. It has the function of mixed load: when the battery is not connected, photovoltaic and commercial power can supply power to the load at the same time (if there is no battery, the commercial power must be connected). When the battery is full, it can also enter the mixed load mode, which can make full use of the photovoltaic energy

Using this hybrid inverter as part of a backup system for when our utility shuts the power off, and it has performed very well. To get some ROI on the investment, we wanted it to power some appliances during the day and especially during 5-8 pm when our rates are the highest, and switch back to grid power when the battery dropped below 75% so that we have some backup for lights and electronics if we needed it. We were able to set it up to do just that, hence the 5 stars. There is an screen that displays the current mode of operation that is very easy to understand. For example in the picture, you can tell that the power is coming from the grid while the battery is being charged by solar. However, it was really tricky to program because of a very difficult to navigate input system. You have 3 buttons to program 37+ values, and to reach any of those you need to cycle through all the ones preceding. It is the same 2 buttons (Up and Down) to view the different sensors. You have access to many readings, such as battery voltage, output pv power, voltage and amperage, output power, etc, but that also means cycling through 12 displays, including some that are firmware-level (like the fact this is a 24V input, 120V unit). This and the programming above are areas that could be improved. For anyone trying to set it up the same way, here's my settings for a 24V Solar PV system and 24V LiFePo battery pack:* "Load Working Mode" ([01] SOL) : Use Solar first, then battery, then grid* "Battery Charging Mode" ([06] OSO : Only charge the battery with solar power* "Battery Power to Utility Setpoint" ([04] 25.2V) : When the battery drops below this voltage, switch to grid power. For my battery pack, 25.2V is 75%.Important: the manual doesn't specify this, but you must set "Battery Undervoltage Alarm" [14] higher than [04]. If it is lower, the system will simply ignore your setting for [04]. To check, after you set the value, scroll back to [04] and make sure it was applied properly. This really tripped us up initially. You can safely ignore the red "Fault" warning when this alarm is tripped off. We disabled the alarm sound as it's part of normal operation for us.* "Utility to Battery Power Setpoint" ([05] 26V): The opposite of [04]. When the battery exceeds this voltage, switch back to primary operation, in this case use solar first, then battery. For my battery pack, 26.0V is 90%.* "Battery Type" ([08] LF08): Our battery pack matches this setting the closest. Check your battery's manual for the correct values.* "Battery Undervoltage Alarm" ([14] 25.4V): Make sure to set this higher than [04]. The default is only if you want to let the battery fully discharge before switching to grid power.* "Buzzer alarm" ([25] DIS): disable the alarm for low voltage. You definitely want to switch this off if the system is often switching between solar and grid like ours.* "Alarm" ([26] DIS): This will beep when there is a switch from solar to grid or back. We turned it off.

Works well. Have evaluated and tested most features with oscilloscope, power analyzers, and bench testing. Internal battery current indication is off by 2%, but within expectations. Conversion efficiencies are well above 90%, fans turn off or down during low power usage. Thermal management good, has internal air ducting to force air to selected parts of the circuitry. Self-protects against overpower, shuts down if necessary. MPPT functions well. Overall: well worth the price for a medium sized application. I am a retired power conversion engineer and was looking for a cost effective, reliable system. It more than met my expectations so far. Will update if I have future reliability issues.

The first unit I received was clearly used and someone had previously mounted it to the wall and severed one of the fan wires. I returned that unit and received another. Turned it on and it sounded like it was going to bounce off the wall, it was very loud. I contacted customer support and they told me it was normal. I ended up getting a fan error and opened it up to find a wire was caught in the fan! I removed that and it seemed to be working properly! Then the solar input amps dropped off dispose the array being in full sunlight, it over discharged and possibly ruined my batter bank, and all this while I’m waiting for a response from customer support. The unit is clearly not working normally as they have told me. I am returning the second one and going with a renogy product as they have a better quality record. It seems like this company just stole their design and doesn’t know how their product works!

I liked that everything was straight forward and easy to install. The Mr Power 5000 Watt 48 Volt Hybrid Inverter works perfectly! I have (10)400 watt solar panels feeding a 48 volt battery system. The Built-In charge controller automatically switches from battery charging to sending excess solar electricity to my house and then back feed the grid. Works Flawlessly! Highly Recommended!

I purchased the POW-LVM3K-24V for emergency support of basic lighting a refrigerator my office and Amateur Radio Station (my average Emergency Power requirement is 1.4 – 2.2 KVA/day & 0.5 KVA/night).The unit is designed for Vertical Mounting, only two screws at top. Fans blow air out of the bottom.I disliked the Difficult Programming, Conflicting Instructions and less than descriptive Labels. The included Manual bears a slightly different Model Number than the unit I received. Terminal sizes and penetrations are not properly sized for the application. Conducted RFI is higher than expected on the Main & PV lines. Advertising states FCC-B (not marked) it is “CE” Marked. Typically, no visible Test Agency Marks. It’s not compatible with nearby Communication Equipment without mitigation. I was not impressed with the audible noise and heat while operating at 2.5 KVA. An 0.358A persistent battery draw when solar is not present was concerning to me.I liked the unit; it is a perfect size and performance-point for my emergency backup application. The mechanics are professional quality, the unit is nice looking. It operates well with my 200 AH LiFeP0-4 battery bank and 1.6 KW Solar. I formally tested over several two-hour periods simulating multiple mains failures with flawless results. Once setpoints are sorted out the unit will operate well as a UPS with smooth Battery/PV support during Mains Loss.To my great disappointment, the unit did not perform to my expectations and although very communicative, PowMr was unable to help. My low rating is because it did not meet my expectations. It is as stated a satisfactory starter Solar Inverter Charger.
