What causes an electrical surge?
In stormy weather, when thunder happens close to the transmission line, the conveying circuit will create induced surge voltage. This can also occur when a large electric device is turned on in the power circuit. Both types of induced surge voltage can interfere the electric devices connected. The first type can damage the devices.
Frequently used surge protection components
Surge protectors can be added to the power circuit to prevent the damage. The surge protectors are constructed with different types of surge protection components. The most frequently used ones are MOV, GDT and TVS. MOV has medium energy absorbing capability and response time, so it is widely used in simple surge protection circuits. GDT has large energy absorbing capability but longer response time; TVS has response speed less than 1Ns with small energy absorbing capability. All three of them are used together to construct professional surge protection circuits.
POWRUI 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit
POWRUI is one of the few Surge Protector makers which uses TVS, MOV and GDT to make 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit that absorbs the energy in steps, providing the best protection of the electrical devices from voltage spikes. When the power surge occurs, TVS responses within 1ns to suppress the unwanted voltages to the safe threshold. Then after several ns, MOV starts to continuously absorb energy. Within a few hundred ns, GDT works to ground a large amount of surge voltages, then triggers the circuit breaker to break the circuit and completely protect the devices.
The advantage of this kind of circuit is large energy absorbing capability which could reach 5,000 – 10,000 joules with <1ns response time. But the cost is high.
Other Brands 1-Level Surge Protection Circuit
Most of other surge protector makers use 1-level MOV parallel circuit, that connects multiple MOV components with surge protection functions to certain joules. The advantage is simple circuit and low cost which can meet the surge protection needs to under 1000 joules. But the energy absorbing capability is low with slow response time, that can only be used on basic surge protector.

I absolutly love the phone holder design on top! I mainly bought this to replace my old outlet because everything fit really loose. Easy to set up and works really well with any US plugs. This saved my butt by keeping my gaming setup organized and everything charging really fast!

I like this particular product because it goes flat against the wall instead of sticking out so far like the other ones do. Its quality is good and the price is right. I definitely recommend this product.

âââââ Exactly What I Needed!This POWRUI Surge Protector is perfect! It’s got 2 USB ports and 6 AC outlets, so I can plug in everything without having to choose which device gets power. I especially love that all 6 outlets are usable—no crowding issues at all, even with bigger plugs.The phone holder on top is a nice bonus, keeping my phone right there and out of the way while it charges. Plus, with 1680 joules of surge protection, I know my stuff is safe. No complaints here, just an awesome, super convenient product!

I love the two USB plug-ins plus the six outlets. This is an outlet splitter/surge protector that I would recommend to others if I had the chance. It does pair well with an (a single) extension cord surge protector for when you have items that can not be near the wall.I got it for dorm life because the dorm building I live in only has 3 outlets in each room and when two people expicaly girls are sharing that you will run out quick.I will definitely buy again whether that is to replace this one when it hits the end of the recommended life span (Surge protectors work about 7 years on average to protect items and around half of that if there is frequent power outages), if I decide to get one for every outlet in my bedroom at home with my parents, or for a future apartment/house when I eventually move out on my own years from now.

It did not sit as flat on the outlet as some of the other types I have bought so I left the outlet cover on and then screwed this on over it to make sure I had a flush fit. Other than that it, it worked fine.

I like it very much since it has lots of outlets and the two USB can charge my phone very quickly. The design is interesting. I can put my cellphone above it when I am charging. It is stable! It also is a surge protector. I bought one, but I got lots of functions! Love it!

I like the small notch in the top that you can rest your phone on while charging. Allows you to buy a smaller cheaper cable. Before I needed a long cable to reach my dresser so device wasn't on the floor and potentially stepped on. Also like that it can be screwed to faceplate so it doesn't fall out of the outlet with the weight of adapters plugged in. I have had dead devices in the morning because of this, appreciate the feature. Arrived on time as well. No complaints, will buy again.

What I really like about this plug is that you can remove the center screw on the faceplace and you can use the screw that comes with this unit to actually secure it to the plug. MUCH better than plug-n-play and the prongs get weak/worn and they fall out of the socket. The fact it has 2 x USB charging ports is a bonus. I would suggest that they make a 'newer' version that has only USB-C as that seems to be the way forward at the moment.

i think this is very useful especially for people with multiple things to charge ,it makes charging more organized and eventually clear out a lot of space cor my room，the quality is great and I will be buying a few more for my work place.
