We had the “standard” ball-catch type of latches on our pantry doors and man they were a pain in the arse only a month into a new home.Found these on a YouTube video and here on Amazon. Easy to install, strong magnets and quiet! Great product!!!

We felt we should have something to hold the door closed when we took out the garbage or meeting the UPS driver in the driveway, as this door does not have a typical handle on it. The magnet was the solution, and it works great. We have not tried yet to leave it unlocked to see how much wind it would take to blow it open, however the magnet seems to hold strong and with them being offset, seems to pull it to the closed position keeping seals tight. It was really easy, 5 minutes for install and is hardly visible even when the door is open (cant see at all when closed)

This works great for a main door. My door is slightly off from the frame. So my new electronic lock wouldn’t work. I used this on the side door frame and the facing door to help pull the bottom into alignment and it worked! You need a 15/16” forstner bit for a perfect fit but a 1 inch will work too.

Be careful when working with these because if the round magnet drops down into the little metal pocket / holder / shroud as it is extremely difficult to pry it back out. It comes with a little spacer in between the two that I accidentally removed. As I pulled that spacer out, the magnet dropped in and the attraction was REALLY strong. I wanted to use the round magnet as is without the metal pocket as the magnet has a center hole with a bevel countersink so the screw rests below the surface. (I ended up using pliers to tear off the metal shroud.)Kit includes double sided sticky tape to tenporarily hold down the rectangular metal plate that is on the opposite side to the magnet but you also need to use the screws they provide. The pull of the magnet is much stronger than the tape can resist. In order to get a good hold, you need to have the magnet and the metal plates mounted within a mm or so. This may require some trial and error and placing shims made of thin cardboard underneath. See photos. The magnet plates are quite thick. As you can see from the photos, it scraped a few times before I got it spaced out correctly. It is not really a novice DIY project as I had to countersink the round magnet also. In the spring I will sand down the wood a bit and restain it so it looks better.

This item is everything I hoped it would be. I installed them on double French-style closet doors on the entrance to my bathroom. These replaced the spring-loaded ball catches that make way too much noise during my spouse's frequent trips to the bathroom at night, interrupting my sleep. I used to know exactly how many times my spouse got up to go to the bathroom during the night, but now I have no clue. Life-changing? Maybe. Sleep is important after all. I chose the PLS-24 PRO over the standard version because I was concerned that the air conditioner flow would push the doors open and it's not even close to being a problem. The magnets generate a lot of force and the doors don't budge. I also installed the PF10PK (not included) foam impact absorption pads in the door frame at the point of contact with the door. They are not totally silent, but with a little care and effort closing the doors, noise can be eliminated, but at the very least it's a dull thud rather than wood hitting wood.Installation was more complicated that I anticipated because I drilled the 15/16" holes in place, using an Irwin Tools Speedbor max drill bit (similar to a spade bit). The bit worked great to drill the 15/16" recessed holes in the door and frame, but the pilot on the bit mad a hole much too large and deep for the magnet securing wood screw to secure the magnet to my satisfaction. So, once my magnet holes were drilled, I used a 15/64" drill bit to drill out the pilot hole made by the Speedbor bit, followed by driving a 1/4" dowel with wood glue into the hole. Then I drilled a small pilot hole for the magnet screw through the dowel and installed the magnets. It may have worked without the dowel repair, but I wanted to be certain the magnets would be well secured and not pull out the screws.Strongly recommended!

I needed to keep the gate to the pool area closed without the cumbersome latch, so when it was in use you could easily swing it open. In the place of the fixed latch I put one magnet ,as the gate door closes with the metal fixture that goes into the latch, it shuts securely, and it takes a reasonable amount of force to open from the inside. It was an easy solution because the magnet is strong.

Replace the ball latch in my French door closet. These work very nice and much quieter.

These magnet catches are awesome. My old French doors to my den were junk and so were the ball catches. There were always binding and making the doors bend before snapping in place. Even after lubricating and lowering balls, they still were garbage for closing.Enter these magnets. I replaced my doors with solid core heavy beveled glass doors. Popped these magnets in both doors and frame and put in bumpers. Wow. What an improvement. Doors now shut tight with little effort. Feels almost mechanical when shutting, that's how powerful they are. Strong enough to keep my cats from opening door.My new doors didn't line up perfectly with each other due to the door jamb framing. No problem, I bought one more set and installed it on the doors' edges, facing each other. Now the doors pull in great and also align up as the new set keeps both doors together. Looks great.Only downside is that doors bounce a lot when not being careful when closing. It's an easy fix, just drill holes deeper to sink magnets, making them weaker. I'm happy where they are though. Great product. Spend the money and then forget about it.
