About this item

  • Product is graded to be free of all debris and chunks, creating a uniform consistency to make repotting as easy as possible
  • Outstanding for Orchids, Aroid and Tropicals- A superior potting medium for Phalaenoposis, Phragmipedium, Dendrobium, Paphiopedilum, Oncidium, Lycaste, Anthuriums, Philodendrons
  • Capillary Action- Tree Fern Substrate has a natural wicking action that sucks up water like a sponge and evenly distributes it which prevents dry zones and soggy wet zones in your mix This allows for even watering and nutrient uptake necessary for strong and healthy growth.
  • Moisture Control- Locks in moisture to maintain an ideal moisture level without becoming oversaturated, while still allowing essential air circulation around the roots.
  • Premium 100% New Zealand Tree Fern is softer and more porous than South and Central American alternatives. It should not to be confused with what others might call Orchid dirt or Orchid soil. Tree Fern is a soft, fluffy, orchid growing media that is responsibly harvested and fully sustainable.
  • Reptile Terrariums/Vivariums- Our Debris Free medium is perfect for reptile enclosures. Our Tree Fern is 100% natural and never treated with any chemicals Makes a 100% organic reptile bedding and encourages burrowing, increases humidity, and acts as a natural odor eliminator.

An amazing product which we started using during the pink bark shortage and we were completely blown away by the results. Absolutely fantastic for orchids and aroids as it is both water retentive but also allows a huge amount of air to circulate around the roots. Tree Fern fiber can be used straight out of the bag of blended into your existing mix. This product is supplied to us by the premium distributor of New Zealand Tree Fern. It is completely natural and NEVER treated with any chemical whatsoever. It is also sustainably harvested which was of utmost importance to us while sourcing. The biggest complaint we had when we started using it was all the large fibrous chunky tree fern which made repotting so much harder than it needed to be, so we remove all the debris and chunks for you.

Great product for indoor plants. The texture is fine and the moisture retention is perfect. It doesn't have a bad odor. Smells earthy.

This is the tree fern fiber which I trust and value most. Tezula is a legendary name in the anthurium world, which is probably the place many of us come from looking to use this, so it's easy to trust the quality of their products. It is graded well and I find that though it is expensive, it is not very disproportionate to others. I have had a moderate amount of inconsistency one out of 3 bags coming with many larger twigs (3"+) in it, but I don't mind at all. It is also not overly dusty, which I appreciate. The only real improvement I could think of for the moment would be more detailed sourcing information of where it comes from.

My Hoya and Anthurium are enjoying life in a soilless mix including Tree Fern Fiber, Chunky Perlite, Orchid Bark, Coco Husk, and Horticultural Charcoal. I add more Tree Fern Fiber for plants with smaller roots and go chunkier for those with ramen noodle roots. I do use this in no drainage glass vases with Fluval Stratum at the bottom for a reservoir. I also use the Tree Fern Fiber in my Moss Poles with Sphagnum Moss at the front/open side of the D-shaped poles and Tree Fern with Perlite behind it. I find it retains moisture better and is easier to hydrate. I've also used Tree Fern Fiber for propagations, but I think I'll stick with the more economical perlite from now on.
I never give fake reviews.

I am not sure if the missing twigs is a good thing since a YTuber said the twigs were great because it allowed airflow, and the roots would go searching for it. I will say that texture wise, this is much more pleasant to touch. It does not feel dry. It is fluffy and it does not seem to rot like the one with twigs do. The true test will come when the plants start growing. I will purchase more if the plants do well.

Tezula tree fern quality is obviously much higher quality than other brands just from the look of it. It doesn’t have random tweaks or big lumps but fine texture while still provides well drainage

I got this to use with my Anthuriums. It was highly suggested in the plant community. Only did I find out later, this batch must’ve been defective and it’s nothing but twigs. This was one of the main reasons for my plants declining due to them drying out extremely fast. ( when I’m gone for a few days ) I’d come back to them dried out.The size of the bag did last for a bit with my smaller plants. That’s a plus ! I would buy again if I knew I would get what tree fern fiber is supposed to be.

Expensive product. Grows mold easily. Looks nice but I don't get the hype
