I enjoy a quality Blue Reed call that allows sound modulation. I find it can really elicit a territorial emotional response from a bull, they are more likely to come in to meet a challenge.

The Primos line that uses these reeds makes the most authentic man-made elk bugle I've seen over 30 years of calling elk. Called in a 6x6 first time I used it and had to duck behind bushes to keep from getting run over.....he came too close to shoot. Very easy to use but takes some practice before you go. Fair price is $5-6 for set of two replacement reeds. The call can be had for $20-25
