I have one of these as a shut off valve for part of a small grove. The old one seized and the stem broke off. I bought the original at Lowes.. my bad. Cheapo chinese manufacturing. However I was able to take the top off the one in the ground and simply replace it with this one. the valve is inline between a pressure regulator and a T off the main waterline going into the house, so non-trivial to replace the whole thing but new one came apart easily and plugged right into old body.

Bought two of these. Screwed 1.5" PVC male connectors into first one and all went fine. Did the first connector on second valve and the connector was at an angle!! Thought valve was badly threaded. Not so. I screwed PVC connector cross threaded. Removed it and took more time with second attempt with new connector and all was well.

I've bought 4 of these valves 3 have stripped after one pool season. The 4th just stripped after 3 months of use during this summer. It's my own fault I kept buying. Please be aware again all the valves I have bought for outdoor pool use have broken.

doesn't close all the way. returned it for a :Smith-Cooper International 9101 Series Bronze Gate Valve, Non-Rising Stem, Inline, 1-1/2" NPT Female, Non-Potable Water Use Only.seems to have much better build quality.
