No problems with the lock. Durable for the money. I recommend this.

The safe came with a paper that showed a combination of three numbers. I tried the numbers more than 20 times and could not get it to open. I tried it four times and then tried it different ways just in case they were wrong, nothing worked. Four times to the left, three times to the right, two times to the left, then to the right until it stopped. It doesn't have a handle so I'm not sure what that means but I tried it anyways, nothing. Don't bother spending your money, you will not be satisfied.

The dial does not move smoothly and it is a huge frustration everytime I try to open it, very hard to open.

It will not open properly. I can get it to open about 1 out of every 15-20 attempts. I am very use to using combination dials and this one is the worst i have ever used. Do not buy.

Apparently some of these will open others won't. The one I got had obviously been returned, and then sent back out to me. I tried every permutation, for a half hour. No luck getting it opened. I put a note in the combination packet, so that when they send it out again, the next person will know it doesn't work, don't waste a lot of time on it. If you look at other sizes from Protex, there are other comments like this, and some that say they had no problem opening. So, if you order this, it looks like a 50% chance it will work. Otherwise, looks to be fairly well made, door is moderately heavy, if only it would work. (Sigh). It's just hard to get good child labor these days.
