I own the ProTuff 16 foot telescoping model. It consists of two aluminium fluted poles. The interior pole is reinforced by the locking mechanism track inlaid through the length of action. The locking collar is a 2 button slide and lock style ring. The outer cover for the locking mechanism is made of a composite or plastic material. The pole seems powder coated, is is fluted for strength and rigidity, also heavier Guage (thicker wall) than most pool poles. The ProTuff is sturdy even if fully extenand the locking Appears to be powder coated. It is a professional level piece of gear. The ROI is good but the price is higher than most or all others I found. But since over the last several year I have gone thru 3 poles that were marketed as strong... wrong...was a closer descriptioion. The ProTuff pole IS the quality that a professional or home user would be looking for when Ll others have failed them.. once a person uses it they are satisfied in the cost.Cost to Benefit breakdown1. Pole is made of thick Guage aluminum, having 2 x 8 foot sections with the locking collar in the middle connection. It can be heavy and cumbersome to use or some si ce it's heavy on its own not counting any accessories. It has a ne icnce the normal operation does not allow the poles to pull apart. But the height from deck upward can be a pain if working in tight spaces.I only have 2 issues: one is the amount of bow in the pole when under a heavyload. Whe you have a heavier load and the basket is full the pole can flex enough to be noticed. But the llo ing collar should be me of solid andMilled stock like the broom adapter is. The pro tuff pole is for certain the strongest I have had or even seen in 30+ years. It can be a challenge picking out the best for the application and knowing what is best for the money all that other stuff.... This pole is what you need and have been looking for....stop looking. Buy it now and see for yourself... if you are not satisfied by the ProTuff Pole, maybe pool cleaning is not your call in life. :)

I have been taking care of a pool every day for the last 50 years. Over the last five decades, I have purchased an array of pool, maintenance tools from various companies. Because of chlorinated water, which comes into contact with pool, poles, skimmers and nets, these products don’t Last very long; usually anywhere between one and three years. Typical Pool polls are made out of thin aluminum which Dent easily and lose the ability to slide within itself thereby making the pole less than user-friendly. While doing my research for future pool, maintenance equipment to purchase, I came across the company Pro Tuff. The first product that I purchased from them was their pole. I was impressed with how it operated and the fact that it did not work on one tube sliding within the other, instead, it has a locking mechanism that is user-friendly and provides smooth operation. So now, if my higher than expected quality pool, maintenance pole fails; I now would receive a replacement from Pro Tuff at no additional cost because I am a residential customer. I am elated that I can use a much higher quality pool maintenance tool knowing that the increased initial cost factor is only temporary. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and intend to buy any future pool maintenance tools from Pro Tuff.

It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I bought this pole since I'm sick of spending money on garbage that doesn't last. I'll gladly pay more for higher quality, and that's what you get with this pole. It does what I need and I love that it locks with pins at various lengths so it will not slip in or out-- it stays at the length you need. One of the greatest marketing ideas ProTuff came up with is to include the acme thread adapter with this pole. So now I not only have an awesome pool pole, I also have a sturdy extension pole for painting, cleaning windows, or using any tool with a standard female acme thread in the handle. This made it super easy to justify paying more since I can use this for all sorts of projects and not just as a pool pole. The pole is thicker-walled than my last one. It's slightly heavier (barely noticeable), but that's OK with me. It's extruded aluminum with a profile so the inner section will not twist inside the outer section. I've been very pleased with it.
