I read a lot of reviews before buying 2 sets. Installing was easy so long as you use the tool provided. Mine were in good shape when they came but maybe if they get dented the grills come off hard. Not sure why people have problems removing and installing the grills but mine went well. Also they sound great.

We needed some speakers to mount in a drop ceiling at our business. After reading many reviews and lots of googling, we landed on this set by Pyle. Our ceiling was a mixture of hard and soft 2x4 ceiling tile. That's the best way I know to explain it: one type of tile was very flexible and papery, the other was very rigid, almost like sheet rock. We needed to mount a speaker in each type. The installation in both types of tile was very easy. The speakers come with a template that you use to cut a precise hole in the ceiling tile. Mounting the speaker into the rigid style tile was the easiest. It just worked. We tightened the clamp onto the tile and connected the speaker wire and placed it back in the ceiling. It was literally 5 minutes. The flimsy style tile was a little different. We ended up using a 2ft long by 2 inch wide piece of wood that we bought at Lowes to span the length of the tile. We used two pieces of this wood, one on each side of the hole where the speaker would sit. This gave us a firm surface to tighten the clamps onto so the speaker would hold. The 2 foot wood pieces then sat snugly into the metal ceiling grid at each end, supporting the weight perfectly. These are not very heavy speakers, so we did not use any wire to support weight. We installed these in April 2016, and they're still going strong. Now! The sound! It's amazing! These speakers really sound great. We didn't hook these into some super expensive receiver, just a cheap $50 radio that happened to use speaker wire and had a CD player. The radio we used sits about 50ft from either speaker and we used Amazon Basics 16 gauge speaker wire. The sound coming from these speakers really fills our storefront well and sounds wonderful! They even have a good amount of bass! We've had lots of compliments on how great they look as well as how great they sound. I couldn't be happier with these speakers and highly recommend them!!

I installed these speakers yesterday. Use the metal clip that comes with the speakers to get the grills off – lift one side half way out then lift the opposite side of the grill and they come off easy. REAL EASY. To put the grills on – carefully line it up with the installed speaker and one side should go in very easy –but only go half way in or so. Take a sheetrock knife and with the razor blade GENTLY ‘pry’ in the grille and press in gently as you go around the edge – go slow and steady - put the grill in half way or so - when you get it completely in – press up on two sides of the speaker and the grill will easily go in flush. It didn’t take hours. The grill comes off in 30 seconds and it took less than a minute to get the grill back on. Use your head. Don’t put the grill in fully on one side thinking that’s the way to do it by trying to jam the opposite side in. It isn’t – you will only bend the grill. One of the worst things in the world to be is a GRILL BENDER. You do NOT want to bend the grill or have your neighbors calling you “GBâ€â€“ so take your time and like I wrote – GO GENTLY. Use a sheet rock knife and use some logic or things most likely will get frustrating and you will screw it all up. Last thing, adjust the tweeter with one finger AFTER the grill is on.Sound wise – for $37 - I was really surprised they actually were alright sounding - and now I understand the massive mark-up on speakers. These puppies hold their own. You will not be disappointed. Sound just fine cranked up and at lower volumes. The highs could be a little cleaner and the bass lower – but come on – for $37 bucks. They sound like you paid 3x - 4x that amount. So don’t be afraid to dip you toes in the water with these speakers – GREAT VALUE. They are much more than fine for most applications. I put them in my kitchen ceiling to rock out when I’m cooking and when I have guests over. Very happy with the purchase.

I've only had these installed for about 5 days. I'm very happy with them. The bass response is great - they are a little 'treble-y' but I adjusted the bass up on my system. I have 8 of these throughout the house in different zones along with a couple of the Pyle PWRC82 8-Inch In-Ceiling Dual-Channel/Voice Coil speakers (also very nice btw). I have two SONOS - CONNECT Wireless Streaming Music Stereo Receiver Component and 4 Russound x75 amps that I am using to run music throughout the house. I have spent literally years thinking about a whole house audio system and I really believe what I have is the way to go. Seamless and great sound. I gave these 5 stars because the sound for the money is great. You could surely spend more and get something that sounds better. I just don't need that for background music in my house. If I crank them up a bit, they still sound good. I'm not a huge fan of the concentric circle in the center for the tweeter adjustment, otherwise, nothing to complain about here. If you're on a budget and wanting to dive in, I'd start with these. I am going to mix in a couple more 8-inch speakers in to my system to improve overall bass response. My buddy has a very similar system in his house with higher-end 6.5inch speakers throughout. These sound better.

I was a bit skeptical about how good these could be considering the price, but now I have them installed I am very pleased. Sound quality is good and the design is good. I needed to fit them from below though a ceiling of more than100 year old lath and lime plaster. It was a messy job cutting the hole, but once done the speaker fitted well. Making a fitment above ones head is tiring and fiddly but the design of the speakers makes this easy, just turn the screws and legs pop out and close up pulling the speaker into snug place. The manual does not tell you how to remove the grill, this is done before placement (to access the screws) by pushing the legs back. This is OK for placement, but once in place, removing the grill may not be very difficult. I was surprised that there is no o-ring for the seal against the ceiling. All in all I was pleased with the buy and I will probably be buying more for other rooms.
