The clamp design for holding the fabric is gentle and simple to use. Just lay the fabric over the frame then gently push the clamps down stretching the material around the outside of the frame. The ribbed inner surface of the Q-snap clamps hold the tension for your preferred adjustment. Simply turn the clamp outward to tighten or inward to loosen. Measures 17x17.

I had one that my grandmother tried. Worked so well for her I had to buy her one of her own

This frame is sturdy, light and goes together easily. It is comfy for hand-quilting. The only downside is the first quilt I used it on is very thick with wool batting, so it is hard to snap the frame on and off. I think I'll like it for other projects though.

I bought this frame to help me hand-quilt a full size comforter. It was very easy to assemble -- all the pieces fit like they should, not too loose, not too tight. It was a little difficult to remove the clamps when there was fabric in it if you just simply pull up on the clamps -- but if you just give a light tug on the fabric, the clamps pull up fairly easily (just don't pull too hard on the fabric, or the clamp will go flying!).The problem I had with the frame is not at all a design flaw -- it was simply too large for me. My arms are not very long, so 17" was way too far for my short arms to reach across to the far end of the back side. Had I thought of that earlier, I probably would have gone with the 14" frame instead. After a while, I just got used to positioning it so I was only working from one side, since I couldn't reach across to the other side.Another issue that I learned to work around, is that because the diameter of the tube is larger than say, your average wooden hoop, it gets very difficult to pull the needle up while rocking when you near the edges of the frame. So from about an inch away from the frame, I either had to put the needle straight down and then reinsert and pull straight up, or just not do any stitching near the edge of the frame. It didn't work with rocking, because you just can't pull the needle through at that angle with the bulk of the frame in the way.Other than that, I like that this can easily be stored without taking up much space, and I like the fact that it doesn't damage the fabric or wrinkle it too much because of the rounded edges.

This might be too sturdy. I had the worst time taking it apart to free my fabric. Like, I hope you have muscles. I decided the struggle wasn't worth it and prefer to free hand sew without a loop.I do think this is very handy, and very helpful for those who have an easier time removing the slide on panels. I love that it is square.

I really like this. Easy concept. Holds your canvas well with no shifting. The bars that slide on and off are very difficult to actually get on and off, but it does the job beautifully and I find that for the price, it works really well! I can’t afford a super fancy one and this one did work extremely well!
hard to please

This will be the same review as the 11", extension set, 17" etc...Where have these been all my life????I love to do small hand quilting work and Embroidery. I have always used those round, oval frames wondering why there wasn't a square one that would not smoosh my already finished work as I moved it around to continue. Then I saw these.Yes, I was skeptical. Very Skeptical. Now I have the 11", 8", 17" and extension kit. That pretty much gives me any size I need. You can mix the 8 or 11 or 17 to make a rectangle if need be.No turning, re-stretching the project. The frame comes apart easily when you want to put it away for storage. It does not come apart easily when working on a project. Now what will I do with all those round/oval frames?

Does the job of a hoop with a little more flexibility and more space to accomplish what you are stitching. Couldn't have finished this project without it

These Q-Snap frames are awesome. They hold the aida cloth nice and tight so you don't have to keep adjusting while stitching. I love the large size which allows you to work on the whole project in one area. They are much easier to hold than the round hoops. I have bought a bunch of the different sizes and I love them all. This brand works way better than Dritz.
