I basically live on the water and put like 300-400 hours per year on my boat. I love to fish and swim. I was getting on over 600 hours and the original belt looked fine but for piece of mind I wanted to change it out. This was a perfect fit. Also after inspecting the previous belt I now know I probably could have went a few more years. So I will go at least 3 years between belts instead of 2.

Mercury branded package, appeared to be OEM. fit perfectly. Now my 50 four stroker should be good for several more years. Old Gates timing belt had developed small outer rubber cracks at every cog location that were visible where the belt wrapped the camshaft pulley. Since a failure can take out the valve train, I went ahead and replaced it. Flywheel removal is the biggest challenge. My automotive harmonic balancer puller did fit the bolt pattern, but needed an impact wrench to pop it loose.

Was worried because number updated twice. Perfect fit for 2005 merc 40 horse 4 stroke. And it’s a quick silver part which is mercury aftermarket.
