HIghly1) capable but very simple to program and use. This offers four ways to control the water - all of which can be used any time. 1)the button on the timer on/off. The duration is set from the APP in advance and is easily changed from the APP. Duration can be set from 1 minute to 24 hr in 1 minute increments. 2) Manual from the APP - can be turned on and off from the APP with same duration options. 3) multiple start and stop times, than can be applies on specific days of the week. For example a morning watering, a noon watering, and afternoon watering on T, Th, Sa etc. . 4) multiple Cycle and Soak events. For example I can set an all day event 6 am to 5 pm, with 3 minute watering times and 57 minute soak times (3 minutes per hour all day). etc.As for connectivity, the basic bluetooth setup connects the timer directly to your App on your phone. But with the hub, the timers (up to 4 per hub) connect to the hub. The hub connects to you local WiFi network. And you can control it locally via that path (once set up the connections are transparent to the user). The advantage is longer range. The hub needs to be near the timer, but you can contol it from anywhere you have an internet connection - meaning connected to your local WiFi - or even away from home, because you phone connects to the internet via the cell network. And, its robust. If the hub goes down (I tested this) the phone APP will still connect to the timer via bluetooth if you are close (about 50 feet) to the timer. Also the help line is very, very responsive and helpful - although I did initially get some input that was not quite right. I attached a photo of my set up.

My network setup:My timer is about 8 meters from the gateway. There's also a wall between them. I'm able to auto connect without separating my combined WiFi to two WiFi networks: 2.4G and 5G.Things I've noticed while using my timer:1. The extra case for the battery helps keep water out.2. Plastic is thick.3. Easy to install and the instructions are detailed.4. Simple interface.5. Watering schedule can only select individual days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, . . .; can't select every two days.6. I set a scene (when Irrigation is on to send me a message), but the alarm time isn't the same as the start time. Sometimes there's no message at all. This may be a connection issue. (see picture)7. When Cycle&Soak is processing, Manual Watering is prevented.8. There's no option to cancel the Rain delay for that day.App Problems (see picture):1. There are different weather displayed on different pages. I don't know whether this has any impact when processing the scene.2. Interface display problem. Normally it's a 7 day week schedule, but sometimes my display shows not 7 days. This occurs on both my Android and IOS devices.

I am very satisfied with the product. It is been working flawlessly. No leaks and no malfunctions. The app is very user friendly and I can configure it to match my watering plan. It even includes a weather delay option to delay watering for up to 72 hours.

In the RainPoint app, you will be able to control all your RainPoint devices. After selecting this valve controller device, you will see its battery percentage and its running state. Below that, you will see information about the week. The information consists of the weather forecast (temperature and rain). Maybe the weather forecast can be improved to also show the percentage of rain for that day. If you set a timer schedule, a water icon will be displayed at the bottom of the days that were configured. If the timer is running, you will see the time left. You have 2 options for running the timer, manually and scheduled. Manual options allow selections from 1 minute to 24 hrs. There is the ability to delay watering. You can only delay for 1, 2, or 3 days. The icon to select this option can be improved to better represent this option. The schedule allows you to pick from normal or Cycle&Soak. For the normal schedule, you pick the start time, duration, and days to water. For the Cycle&Soak, you pick the start and end times, and days to water. Then you select the amount of time it will water (cycle) and the amount of time that it stop to allow the water to soak in. It also support Alexa or Google Assistant integration. I tried using the Google Assistant, and it seemed to work ok. The outdoor valve controller is pretty compact. The brass connector at the top will help keep it from getting fused to your hose bib. The front only consists of a blue status light and a button to manually turn on/off the water. To install the 3 AAA batteries, you just turn the front piece a couple of degrees to remove the front panel. You should hold onto this piece as it is attached to the body by a small coiled wire. Once the front is off, you can then remove the battery door cover. No tools are required, which is a plus. The device feels solid and well made. The WiFi module is pretty small and compact, but I would like to see it be a little shorter on the bottom, as it is a tight fit next to an existing plug. Overall, this is a pretty nice water timer.

I recently purchased the RAINPOINT Sprinkler Timer WiFi Water Timer for my garden, and it has exceeded my expectations. The setup was straightforward, and connecting it to my WiFi network was seamless. The app interface is user-friendly, allowing me to easily schedule and adjust watering times from anywhere. The timer works reliably, ensuring my garden is watered consistently even when I'm not home. I appreciate the smart features, like weather-based adjustments, which help conserve water and keep my plants healthy. The build quality feels sturdy and durable, which gives me confidence in its longevity. The only minor drawback is that the initial app configuration took a bit longer than expected, but once set up, it has been smooth sailing. Overall, the RAINPOINT Sprinkler Timer is a fantastic investment for any garden enthusiast looking for convenience and efficiency.

The components that come with this product are for the EU/UK. They do not work in Canada. I love the look and design and what it does, but can't use it.

I bought two of these timers (one alone and one with the wifi hub). Connection and initial set up was very smooth and my early testing indicates they work as they should. I had a couple interactions with their support people and have to say their customer support is very good. I have yet to work the timers very hard so I can't comment on their durability or reliability.I do want to comment on the Cycle & Soak programming option. It was the reason I purchased this model of timer so I could run the irrigation 20 minutes of every hour of every day. Normal Scheduling is limited to 10 or so on-and-off times per schedule. Cycle & Soak has two duration settings...one is Cycle Duration and the other is Soak Duration. Seems pretty straightforward except that the App has these reversed. Cycle Duration is the watering time. Soak Duration is the non-watering interval. The RainPoint customer support have confirmed this error for me. Hopefully RainPoint can find a way to correct this without disrupting their customers' watering plans. Maybe just clarify it in the instructions or in the App itself. This issue wouldn't stop me from buying more of these timers.

I love that this timer comes with an app with bluetooth. However I haven't been able to use with the wifi gateway as it come with a European plug. I reached out to the company and they responded quickly. Although they cannot ship to Canada, they helped me with a refund and then assisted me with how to order the correct plug. Thank you Rainpoint.
