The Raspberry Pi 4 is a good balance of performance and price. It is more powerful than the Pi-Zero, but cheaper than the newer model 5.

Works as described. Quality build. Easy to use and set up. Low noise level when running. For perfectly with the set up I have. Fun and easy to do! Would buy again!

I've owned many Raspberry Pi boards over the years, but the Raspberry Pi 4 is by far the most capable desktop-replacement board to-date. The wide software and documentation support within the community is phenomenal, making it extremely easy to get started with the device. Not to mention, the low price point makes it accessible to anyone who wants to experiment with computing.One of the most impressive features of the Raspberry Pi 4 is its easy-to-access GPIO pins, which allow for a variety of expansion options. This flexibility makes it a great device for hobbyists, students, and rapid-prototyping. The large ecosystem of expansion HATs offers endless expansion options.I primarily use my Raspberry Pi 4's as dedicated media center computers for Kodi, and they work flawlessly. The device runs smoothly and without any lag or stuttering, even when playing 1080p H265 videos. The small size of the device also makes it ideal for use as a portable media center, which is perfect for on-the-go entertainment.Overall, I highly recommend the Raspberry Pi 4 to anyone who is looking for a powerful and versatile computing device at an affordable price. This was my first Raspberry Pi used for a robot kit. It won't be my last as there are a huge range of applications.Know that this is a completely bare computer. No power supply. No interfaces (keyboard, etc.) of any sort. No permanent storage. To actually set up the device you need a power supply, a mini SD card to act as the "drive," a keyboard, mouse and monitor.There are four standard USB connections (2xType3; 2xType2), two LAN connections and two MICRO HDMI connectors for monitors. There is a 30-pin bus affording power, switching and feedback for external devices. Wi-Fi and bluetooth are built in as is some sort of audio with a 3.5mm stereo jack provided.Downloading and installing Raspberry OS was simple and the device boots and resets very rapidly. The included apps are largely open source and functional.

I've been using computers in one capacity or another since the early 1980's, and I've never been shy with my criticism of any computing platform. I also try my best not to be religious; I'm typing this review on a MacBook Pro, but on a daily basis I also use Windows, Linux, Android and OpenBSD. That said, I really do believe that the Raspberry Pi is one of the 10 best computers ever ... and that puts it in high ranks with the likes of the original Macintosh, the original IBM PC, the Commodore 64, and the original iMac.Sometimes the best computers are the best because they're cheap and approachable, and that's exactly what the Raspberry Pi strives to be. It will never win in any benchmark tests, nor will it become the platform of choice for compute intensive operations like bitcoin mining. But it more than makes up for that by being the sort of board that an auspicious 10 year old could learn and master, and then go on to build any number of gadgets and trinkets. This is the Lego of computers, and its two digit price point means that the cost of making a mistake is much lower.Cheap isn't enough, though. By running Linux (and a reasonably well developed distribution of Linux at that), it gives people a platform on which to learn virtually every programming language that can be practicably used in 2020. The Pi can be a LAMP server for PHP web development just as easily as it can be a platform for Python, C++, Java, or dozens (perhaps hundreds?) of other languages that could be useful.And it's not just languages. This could be a platform on which to learn any number of frameworks, from Hadoop to Spring. Or it could be used to learn networking. Or even hardware development, with its robust busses and interfaces.Or maybe learning isn't your thing, in which case the Pi could be a file server. Or a media server. Or a web server. Or an email server. Or a robust little desktop for all manner of noodling. For those that tinker with 3d printers, the Raspberry Pi opens up a world of true computing power (in a tiny package) to all manner of 3d printed gadgets.And here's the best part: when someone "outgrows" the Pi, there are a plethora of platforms on which to migrate. In fact, one could even argue that "if you can make it work on a Pi, you can make it work anywhere."Criticisms abound about the Pi, and that's always going to be the case with any platform. Nothing can be everything to everyone, especially at a price point like this. Some of these criticisms are fair (like the Pi's incompatibility with the current Apple USB-C power bricks), and others are simply people looking to be armchair critics (like the criticism that there's not enough software). And as is the case with any computer purchase, you'll increase your chances of satisfaction if you have a good objective sense of what you're looking for. But if you don't, this is a very low cost way to get into the world of nuts-and-bolts computer tinkering, and for that reason it more than deserves five stars in my books.

Bought during the RPi craze and shortage. Worked great for what I needed though and is still ticking away.

Apparently these Raspberry Pi’s can be used for many different amateur radio projects. I used this one as a pistar to connect to YSF. It works as it should. I read that the 4s can generate a lot of heat so I have it placed on a small computer fan to keep it cool.

If you ever wondered whether such devices last, then 4 years should prove it!This Raspberry Pi 4 has been used as a desktop PC, has run retro game emulations extensively and now is in use running an Open Source synthesizer project. It continues to run flawlessly even after a very bumpy house move.Boot times are mere seconds into the Raspberry O/S, but it can also be used headless, as with the synth software. Switch on, wait 10 seconds and it's ready to use.Really, these sit somewhere between the most powerful Arduino type boards and a full desktop mini PC.Immensely capable hardware and software for the price, from the biggest company in the game.I would recommend fitting a heatsink (as shown) , so that all day use won't ever be a problem even in summer.

Not quite as good as the new 5, but the 4B is great for a variety of computing task. PioHole? Perfect. RetroPie? No problem, even for N64 emulation.A great little computer for

A raspberry PI is a great module to develop. I used this one for my 3D printer. I installed Mainsail on it and it works great. If you never had a RPI before, this one is a good start. 2GB is the low end of memory, but for the 3D printer project, it is largely enough.
