I used this for a cargo trailer that had no prior window. Since it came without a stencil, I traced the back side of the window onto the box it shipped in and cut out the stencil. Once I had the stencil properly located on the trailer, I traced around it. Easy. I masked around the area to be removed with blue painters tape, and drilled one hole large enough to accommodate the jigsaw blade. Using a long blade, I was able to cut through the outside aluminum, the 1" Fomular insulation and the wood paneling inside the trailer all at once. I then test fit the window and inside trim rim and made any necessary adjustments. If I were to do this again, I could get away without being overly precise because it's good to have a bit of play while seating both the window and trim ring. And although the supplied gasket was said to be all that was needed, I ran a bead of silicone adhesive around the inside of the assembly, inboard the supplied gasket. Additionally, I installed this by myself. A good product at a good price. Definitely would buy again.

So after I flung a magnolia cone into the window cutting the grass, I had to obviously get a new one. Came across this window after inputting the measurements I needed. I couldn’t find a window that wasn’t tinted in the size I needed so I went with this one. The window came and was packaged nicely. The window came with all the necessary materials to install it. Test fitting the window first showed that I needed some extra sealing due to my camper having metal siding. So I bought some butyl tape. The tape adhered the window to the side so I could see in the ring on the inside of the window fit. For my camper, the ring that comes with the window doesn’t quite fit, it’s too shallow to reach the window. So i reused the old one and it went together perfectly. The window opens and slides easy and locks easily. Great quality. I’m sure if you have a smooth sided camper you should be able to use all the new parts. But if you have the metal siding like me, you may have to use the old interior ring

IF you go to Rec-Pro's actual web site and look up these windows, you will get MUCH more info (though not all that you need) regarding the FIT of these windows. My comments are for the 20 x 30 slider but likely apply to all.1) They are designed for a 1-1/2 in thick wall. The 1-3/8 in dimension on Amazon is largely meaningless. IF you wish to use them on a 1-3/8 thick wall / door you will need to make up for the extra 1/8 in that you are "not using" (additional sealing gasket maybe?)2) THE TRIM RING REQUIRES A LARGER CUT-OUT (ROUGH OPENING) THAN THE WINDOW ITSELF. THIS INFORMATION IS NOT ON EITHER AMAZON OR REC-PRO'S WEBSITE.3) These come with zero instructions, so you are on your own to figure everything out. These seem to be well-made units, and I should be able to make it work for my application, but it would be nice if the seller provided COMPLETE information for the buyer.

I bought this window not as a replacement but as a new install for my utility trailer. The trailer is double walled; metal skin with a wood interior. As others have mentioned there is no template so I used a sharpie to outline one on the cardboard box it shipped in.As an American company I would’ve expected more robust instructions and a little higher quality self-tapping screws (which were basically crap). The window itself is very high quality and I will probably buy one for the other side.If doing a new install plan on 2 people for the final stage.

Good quality. I was able to install this alone in my cargo trailer. The screen opens as well as the window which made it a one person install. I was able to hold it in place reaching through the window while installing the trim ring. Framed it with 1x2 ferring strips. Maybe 4 hours from beginning to end

I had read some negative comments about these windows, mainly in dealing with the installation. The lack of a template was noted in many. It is my understanding that the windows are usually used as replacements so no templates are needed in those applications. When installing them in a trailer, as I did, it is necessary to make a pattern out of poster board. This is not really a negative, due to the advantage that making a cardboard pattern provides an accurate fitment. The key to this type of install is to make sure the inner paneling is removed so that the hole from the window opening is cut to fall centered between the structural uprights in the trailer wall. My specific trailer can accept a 14" wide window without having to cut the upright structure. Wider windows would require cutting these uprights and reinforcing the opening.I am very pleased with the quality of the RecPro windows. I have installed them and have already used the trailer to sleep in, in a driving rain. Just take your time. Excellent USA product. I had a question for RecPro, and called them. Great customer service. Fast shipping.

UPDATE:Replacement window arrived better packaged and no bends. Surface paint damage and a broken lock, but otherwise usable. It does feel a bit like a manufacturer is unloading it's "seconds" / quality control fails here on Amazon. But if you have time and patience to do a couple of return cycles, and maybe replace minor hardware like the lock, it's a good window for the money.Over all, pretty happy.----------ORIGINAL REVIEWWhen I unboxed this window, I really liked it - so was super-disappointed to inspect it and find major dents that would prevent it from installing flush and sealing against the side of my trailer, plus a crack.I've initiated a return and am buying again, hoping for a better success.Assuming the new one arrives undamaged, I think it's going to be really, really good.
