We have an older carrier (day & night branded) furnace that began to short cycle (burner would turn on and off several times without the blower running. Then the blower would start and the burners would come on for 20-30 seconds and then everything would shut down and start again). I tried replacing the filter and replacing the limit switch with no luck. Realized the 3 wire pilot assembly has an integrated flame sensor and tried cleaning it, also with no luck. Finally found this and was able to swap it in and the furnace runs perfectly! One note - the included “restrictor nozzle†that goes on the end of the pilot has tube and inside the pilot assembly is slightly longer than the OEM one I had. I ended up just cleaning and reusing the OEM one to ensure a snug fit for the brass coupling screw.

A 1972 Carrier vintage gas fired furnace. When the pilot burner finally failed, this was the replacement. Original Carrier parts for this vintage furnace are hard to find. So when installed, this piece worked flawlessly. It is not as robust/dense as the original Carrier piece so it may not last 18 years. But after this one worked so well, I ordered another as a spare to keep on hand. Works great.

Used for carrier furnace. Pilot assembly RWLH680005 fit perfect but totally failed after 30 days of use

I have a 40 year old Payne gas furnace that failed to open the main gas valve when the pilot flame was burning. It looks like a bi-metal switch had failed. The three wires to it appear to be a green one for the spark grounding and two others that most likely are part of the main gas valve solenoid circuit. When the pilot lights, heat snaps the bi metal and depresses the micro switch witch completes the circuit for turning on the main gas valve. I had to tap the two holes in the unit to get the adapter plate attached so the unit would screw into the burners for flame propagation. I did not use the restriction parts with the kit that looks like it minimizes the pilot gas flow for some other usage or furnace. the device Worked great!

Excellent Product, easy to replace. old one died, was lighting the pilot but it was not sending gas to burner so no flame coming from the burner. I replaced this parts and everything started to work. After changing this part Pilot Burner Spark Igniter keep trying to ignite but was not successful at the first time. I read some forum that mentioned because igniter was not reaching gas valve so its not creating a flame. they suggested to bend the igniter rod so it could reach the gas valve. this could also happen when you touch the igniter bare hand and oil from your skin could stop the igniter to start the flame. what i did, may not work for you and need to replace the spark igniter as well. I used a long lighter to start the fire manually when it was sparking. after that pilot got hot and it started the gas flow to burner and everything started to work as normal. I did multiple start stop after that and no more issues.

Works great with my original pilot light gas line and small pinhole piece that inserts into this pilot burner. My old pilot burner would light but then it never sent a signal to the gas regulator to click and open to let gas flow to the furnace. However…thank you to those that provided reviews on the same item made by Robertshaw because I had to modify my original igniter like they said. I had to bend the igniter rod down half an inch so it would strike the cylinder where the pilot gas comes out other wise it was arcing to the top of the flame deflection plate and would not ignite the pilot flame. With this Pilot Burner Safety Switch, once the pilot lights, the igniter stops arcing and about 5-10 seconds later, you’ll hear a click and the main gas will flow into the furnace and ignite. Then you can exclaim to your wife, “I HAVE MADE FIRE!!!â€
