Purchased this for Halloween decorative light. Can be used in a metal halide fixture. The ignitor on a pulse start metal halide ballast should be disconnected, I used this black bulb in my 400 watt pulse start metal halide hang a light, replaced the EX-39 socket with an E39 and disconnected the ignitor since this black bulb is actually a mercury vapor and is not designed to withstand the high voltage pulses from a M155 ballast. If you don't understand lighting systems and electrical circuits you shouldn't be rigging things up, this bulb is really intended for the American DJ UV cannon and UV floods common at large venues and night clubs.

I ordered 2 of these bulbs to replace my old ones. One immediately stopped working. The other works but the quality is no were near the old bulbs. I am still dealing with trying to get a replacement with now luck. Buyer beware
