Works great after drilling hole in the ice. Small and expands for less bending.

I have never really seen one like this I was pretty impressed. This scoop seems pretty sturdy. It was a little longer than advertised at about 30 inches plus the scoop. Which I see as a good thing. It's not actually "bend over" free. This scoop takes very little movement to reach the holes when standing though. Awesome back saver for anyone who can relate to long cold days. Also not mentioned it has a very small hole in the rubber handle that would prevent it from entirely being waterproof. With that said though this unlike traditional metal ones I don't think would sink quickly or at all. Like in the case where I'm sure some of you have dropped the metal ones never to be seen again. I imagine there would be time to grab it before it would. The only negative thing I can see is that the bottom part is all plastics. I'm used to using the metal ones like a scraper or a chisel when its cold and the holes start freeing over. One couldn't use this one that way without potential damage. If a metal scraper or chisel was somehow welded on to the bottom tube this would arguably be the best. Good price, and really small form factor when collapsed. Easily will fit into a backpack or bucket. I could recommend this for sure.

You would be suprised how useful the extended handle is out there on the ice. Well worth the $

I bought these as a gift for a friend to use while they are rock hounding. I am concerned about how well the strainer is going to hold up as it feels like a lightweight thin plastic. I am also disappointed in the adjustment/attachment area design. I worry the screw is going to loosen and fall out. I also wish the telescope part would have plastic on both sides of the adjusting piece of the basket. The telescope handle and grip seem to be well made. I do like that it can be shortened to take up less room in the vehicle.

I have used this ice scoop through all sorts of conditions and really like it. Light weight. Telescoping, so you can save your back to clean out a hole, but also pack it away easily when compressed. The extensions will lock in place after a little practice as to how much pressure to use in tightening. Really liked that in sub zero, it still extended and compressed without issue. Plastic head has also shown no signs of wear through two seasons.

Nice not to have to kneel on ice. I'm not as young as I used to be. It is nice to clear hole without having to get up and down on ice.

In concept it is a good idea with the extendable handle and the pivoting scoop head, however, you need to adjust the scoop head angle BEFORE you get to the ice, because once you start scooping water with it, the rotating screw freezes up and then you can't rotate the scoop angle anymore. Also, the extendable handle gets difficult to lengthen or shorten in the cold weather. In warm temperature , the adjustments work. The scoop also could have been bigger for picking up the larger chunks of ice better.
