Sturdy replacement crank handle for Craftsman Radial Arm Saw

The wimpy plastic blade height adjustment handle on my Craftsman radial arm saw snapped off and left me cursing every time I needed to move the blade. The M12 revolving handle looked like a good option to retrofit the plastic knob.

After a quick run to the hardware store for a M12 nut and a pair of washers, I drilled a M12 diameter hole as close to the outside diameter as possible and mounted the handle. The result works exactly as I hoped. The rotating handle is much more robust than the original handle and height adjustments are a breeze.

Manufacturer's Opinion: We're glad to have resolved the issue. Considering that the mounted part is made of very thin and fragile plastic compared to this rotating handle, securing both sides with a nut and washer combination was an excellent choice. This kind of intuition is crucial when fixing, improving, or refining something.

Nice replacement fence clamp handle for my old Delta table saw. I would have liked it to be a bit longer but it works just fine and seems more solid than the original.

Manufacturer's Opinion: Installed properly.

The only manufacturer's concern is that that flange nut should have been installed upside down.

If you install the flange nut in reverse, you will have a much more stable structure.

If installed as is, the plastic part of the anti-loosening pattern will gradually wear out. (Just like when grating food on a grater)

Works perfectly for my Ryobi 10” table saw

The original part that moves the blade down/up broke off. I ordered this replacement and it works great. To install the handle turn the nut backwards on the back side of the crank. Otherwise it will rub. Good luck with your install.

-This item worked great, but I did have to modify the bolt hole by drilling it out so that the bolt would fit, then I applied a lock washer and nut after tightening it up the handle worked perfectly! Glad I found this item for my trailer jack crank!

- I broke the knob off the adjusting handwheel on my table saw, ordered this knob, drilled and tapped the wheel to 10 mm and threaded in this replacement .Btter than new.

-Used this to replace a handle from a Eley hose reel. It took a little retrofitting, but this works fine. About 1/2 the price of the official part from Eley that broke (bad design).

-Perfect for the project on which I was working. the only thing I wish for was that it came with an additional nut for securing the handle from the back of whatever it's attached too. I did end up finding one that would work. Really nice looking handle. I like the yellow anodized finish that matched the brass fittings I was using.

This is the rear side of a flange nut with an anti-loosening pattern.

The basic structure consists of a long threaded bolt surrounded by a piece of plastic that rotates around the bolt. The flange nut determines the height of the bolt and is used to adjust the play in the handle (plastic). To minimize play, it is generally recommended to tighten the flange nut all the way to the top and then insert the screw fully with a Phillips screwdriver.

This is a perfect example for use in repetitive rotation. Manual milling and grinding machines require the X-axis to be moved by hand over 5,000 times a day. No matter how advanced technology becomes or how many automated systems are introduced, tasks that must be performed manually will always remain a part of our lives. If we had used a fixed knob, the operator's palm would have suffered. Fortunately, the product in the image features a rotating knob.

For height adjustment of work table.

It is also used in metal cabinets that store large volumes of printed materials. Ultimately, it can be used anywhere there is a need to transmit rotational force.
