I read folks placed their fishing poles in these small racks and they work great. I thought that might work for my shovel?I purchased and mounted the two Rhino racks, one on each stock roof rack. I used all the space and they got tight enough, I also added and extra nut on each bolt. My roof rack is pretty thin. I wanted to secure the shovel if I stopped at the shopping center, so, I drilled out an existing hole just large enough to fit a gun lock cabel with lock. I purchased the 3 pack of adjustable locks on Amazon, but, to early to review them, although, so far so good. They secure my boards and shovel. The extra goes to normal use.I went out on a rainy and thankfully didn't get, but, one wash I thought I might have to shovel it to an angel vice drop off, but, I had enough clearance, yay!I climbed some rough hills and a bumpy, slippery and steep hill. Got stuck on the first path, to sqare for me ride up. Backed up a few feet and adjusted to the left, got more bouncy, but, doable. When I git to the top I checked the shovel and it was fine. It's awesome to be able to carry a long shovel and not have it inside. If the gear breaks I'll re-write my review, but, feels solid. Have a good day 🙂

We have 2 large dogs and a Subaru Outback. Ensuring our safety and our pups safety with a fishing rod in tow was a priority. We bought this and it does the job well. It's affordable (in comparison to other products for this task) and easy to install. We keep the straps in the glove box to keep the integrity of the rubber. Super happy with the purchase!Used on a 2021 Subaru Outback with OEM crossbars.

Okay first look it’s nice sturdy and well built. I put it on using the T track method and the one thing I can say is that the bolts that come with might be either too small or too big for some people so keep that in mind. Same goes for the squares that go into the track and grab it. After reading many answers saying that skis don’t work I didn’t believe them seeing that there are MANY pictures of skis on the rack in the post and even on the box they come in. I tried it for my self and they do indeed hold skis but if yours are thick skis (mine are 3-4 in wide) they could not work since I have to max out the rubber pieces used to secure the skis in order to properly secure my skis down. I’m planning on traveling across country to move so I’ll have to update my review later. P.S. THEY DO NOT LOCK YOUR ITEMS they only secure them to your roof rack nothing more someone could easily steal your items only reason I’m using them is they are my last chance at taking my skis with me moving. Hope this helps anyone deciding yes or no.

I used these to secure a camping axe to one of my cross bars. The rubber straps are beefy and provide a lot of tension. I used plastic zip ties as a second layer of security but had enough confidence in these to go it again without them. They’re snug enough that there was no movement or play when properly attached.Good job Rhino!

Perfect size to install next to our rooftop carrier - the straps are in my car glovebox for now- not sure if the sun will damage them if left on- using for a single pair of skis

Love it. Perfect for holding fishing poles. Took it on a 7 day road trip and zero issues. Love being able to just step out, release a strap and walk to the lake.

Great for kayak paddles or fishing poles! I've had my poles strapped to these at 70mph on my Yakima round bars and had no issues with things moving around. I have fit up to 4 poles in this if you arrange the reels carefully, assuming they're all facing the same way. You could probably fit more alternating them!

Picked up a pair of these to strap our cross country skis to the top of our SUV. They were easy to install, haven’t budged, and securely kept our skis tied down across a multi state journey. Great addition!

Exactement ce dont j'avais besoin et très pratique. Ça fait deux hivers que j'utilise cet équipement pour me balader avec mes skis de fonds et tout est encore impeccable. Même après plusieurs hivers. Un des meilleurs achats que j'ai fait.

Great product but does not fit all roof racks. I had to purchase longer screws to mount it.

Bought them mainly for my SUP and Kayak paddles (and miscellaneous stuff). They do the job but I took off 2 stars since they were not designed properly to fit on a Rhino-Rack platform (or any other in my opinion). The problem is the positioning of the “catch hook(s)†which are way too low and almost contact the platform surface, making it very hard to cinch in place since you’re supposed to pull down on the strap.Should be fine if installed on crossbars but I do not recommend for a platform.
