Units were easy to install on my roof rack.Hold my kayaks securely.They come with tie down straps. These are a good start. They function as they should.However, I would recommend aditional ties on the bow and stern if you value your kayaks. Again, the racks function as they should, but I have seen these used without the bows tied, and in both cases the owners were about to loose a kayak on the freeway. Securing you craft properly is your responsibility.

So far these have worked great for our kayaks. We did purchase longer straps as the ones that came in the kit were too short for the fishing kayak. Otherwise they work great!

These j bars hold kayaks very securely. A bit tedious to assemble but not difficult. The only thing I didn’t like about these and it’s been the same with two other sets I’ve had in my lifetime is that the bottom clamp is kind of designed to go onto a rounded crossbar. Mine are flat and wide on my Ford Escape and because of this, once clamped in place they are somewhat tilted and not vertically straight. If a flatter clamp similar to the one that rides above the crossbar were included the fit would have been better. They to clamp down very securely though and for the price paid are a good option. Overall I’m very pleased with this set of J Bars. I would recommend purchasing a more rugged set of tie down straps. The included ones are a bit cheap and I wouldn’t trust them to hold a pair of kayaks at 60 miles an hour. For not much money you can get a really good set here at Amazon.

This product would be better suited for a trailer than the top rack of a vehicle. First off it’s not easy to put together. The design is poor when it comes to the Assembly of the product. The parts don’t fit well together, and you have to do a lot of manipulating to get everything to fit right. Second, installing it on the top rack of a vehicle was disastrous. The bolts provided were too long and caused damage to the paint and rooftop of my vehicle. Which is the very thing I was trying to avoid by getting a top rack for my kayaks. And the damage was done before I could even get the device fully secured to my rooftop rack. I’m sure it would’ve caused more damage and possibly created dents in my roof. Had I attempted to fully secure the device. I returned this product as it caused damage to the rooftop of my SUV.

They screw on and there is a regular nut and then another with the plastic nut. Takes longer to put on and off than others I have used. The angle for my Subaru Forester factory roof rack has the kayaks resting too close against each other but not bad enough to have to replace these.

For the cost & what you get,you can't go wrong. Assembly was pretty straightforward & had no issues. Hardware was on the light side & not stainless, but works. 3 things I'll mention is,slip the rubber pad over the longer side & then mate the two. The pad will then be easier to pull & align the bolt holes. Second is that these included straps will work,but I'll be upgrading mine for additional holding while driving down the road. Third is don't torque them down overly tight due to the tubing potentially bending. I noticed this right out of the box due to the thickness of the material. Overall,I'm pleased with this purchase

They seem to be very good quality, they attached very snugly to our mini van roof racks and hold our kayaks tightly without needing extra front and rear tiedowns. we will be purchasing more robust straps, but what is supplied are working good enough for now.

It took an absurd amount of time to put all of it together. However, once assembled works as it should. The straps that come with it are not big enough for my kayak so I did have to use longer straps that I already had.

Drove 8 hours down a bumpy gravel road and these held the kayaks amazing, no issues. The product quality exceeded my expectations. Would recommend.
