After 33 years my Richie HB-71 failed. This is the most suitable replacement for the older model. Bracket holes still line up with no need to drill new holes. Prefect fit on my dash. Gotta have the larger compass card, even on my Skipjack 20. Definitely worth the $60 more for the larger compass card. Much easier to read when bouncing on the ocean at 20 knots.

Very readable, moreso than the black dial available from the same mfg. No internal light. I purchased this compass to mount into the flat panel in the front cockpit of a Hobie Oasis 2 person kayak. In the end, I couldn't bring myself to cut a 3 inch diameter hole in the boat. I ended up rigging a quite usable adapter from PVC fittings and a Ram Ball to a mounting track.

Recently purchased on Amazon a Richie V-527 Slope mount kayak compass and it works excellent on our 18 foot sailboat! The reason we selected the slope mount was the configuration of our small sail boat. Seems to be very well made and durable. Good job!

The compass will serve its intended purpose successfully. Good display and easy instructions. Mounting could have gone a little easier if there was some coordination with the kayak manufacturers.

Great compass exactly what I wanted but getting hard to find. Could only get this online thru Amazon. No stores into area carried this model.
