This product did exactly what it was designed to do! I only added a star washer to it to butt up against the riv nut to help keep the riv nut from spinning and it worked perfectly. Those who reviewed and said the tool broke most likely over tightened the riv nuts (which is easy to do). Those who commented on the cost of the components are correct. This is expensive for what you get if indeed you are willing to go out and purchase the individual components to make it, but a little bit of research ahead of time should have made that very clear. I knew exactly what I was getting and was willing to pay the price to have all the parts match and be delivered to me.

I used this to install a couple of M5 carbon steel rivets in a bike frame. It worked the first time with minimal effort (5 minutes each) on both rivets. IF you could find a couple of nuts the same size as these a homemade approach would probably works as well. However, good luck finding nuts that large (for a relatively small M5 bolt). I couldn't. I did try a homemade approach using smaller nuts and I gave up after 3 hours. It is hard to take that you are spending $15 for one bolt, a couple of nuts, and a washer. However, it did work. It seems to me like they could at least supply an extra bolt and a washer or two for that price.

Bought this for only a few nuts. A little clumsy, but more cost effective than the big dedicated tool. I could see it being useful in tight spaces too. You could probably make this with some hardware from the store if you knew what you were looking for.

This works great and is all you need for most projects. I recommend installing a couple of rivnuts in a flat sheet first to get the feel of how tight to set them.

The bolt in the tool was too short to be effective. I substituted a store-bought bolt, and a larger nut as a spacer, and managed to set the rivnuts without the tool I had purchased for that purpose.

As another person noted, this is basically worthless. I could not get it to crush one single Nutsert... It is just an M6 screw, with one nut, and a nut that us made to serve as a wide spacer, I suppose. It does nothing.

I used this tool to install M6 rivnuts. It is simple to use, and works as intended.

It worked well for me using 6mm stainless rivet nuts. I made sure that I did not over tighten the tool. I could feel the tool get warm compressing the rivets. I also tried a couple I could see the rivet working and know that I was not overdoing it. It would be easy to break the bolt in the tool by over tightening.
