Given the price and functionality (ie, the rubber barrel and plastic hatch), this tumbler is the best deal on Amazon. I bought it for a gift and it took less than 5 minutes to initiate step 1. Most other kits do not have the hatch (it makes a world of difference, especially if you live in an apartment or densely populated area) and the other ones that do are priced at over $100. The noise level is akin to a dishwasher with the hatch closed and sounds like driving a truck over gravel when it’s opened. The barrel can fit 1 bag of rocks per session.

I had never tried a rock tumbler before, so didn't quite know what to expect. Overall I'm very pleased with two things: how easy this is to operate, and how quite it is.First, it's very easy to get this up and going for the first time. It took maybe 10 minutes at most to get it going the first time. Second, I am very happy with the level of sound coming out. This was a concern of mine since you have to run this for several weeks to get good results. It sounds like a quiet refrigerator running the background. We put it in the basement so it's even quieter. I think the shield over the top helps a lot in this regard. With the shield open it's a lot louder.I've been using this for a couple of weeks and am very excited to see my first rocks soon!

I wish my other tumblers had the little plastic hood thing on them. It really reduces the noise. Rock tumbling can be one of those things that drives people crazy if they have to listen to it for the weeks and weeks it takes to tumble. Making it just a little quieter goes a long way. This tumbler hasn't leaked or stopped, or done anything out of the ordinary at all. It works like a champ and is a great intro tumbler. The grit and polish steps are good for most applications and you can get refills of the steps you like.Keep in mind that tumbling takes time. The longer you can give it, the better the outcome. (that's why you want a quiet one).Highly recommend.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use tumbler, this one is a fantastic choice. Designed with noise reduction in mind, the included cover and rubber-lined barrel make it significantly quieter than the rock tumbler I got for Christmas in 1995! This one is much quieter and less disruptive, making it perfect for home use. My previous, antiquated model was relegated to the garage when turned on. As a family of rock collectors and amateur geologists, I can’t believe I waited so long to get one of these. It’s a fantastic way to deepen my kids’ interest in geology and gemology, and the fact that it’s so sturdy means we’ll be using it for years to come. The kit is also incredibly well thought out. It comes with everything you need: two bags of rough gemstones, four polishing grits, sponge blocks, a filter, a jewelry setting kit, a power adapter, and a detailed guide. I especially love that the rocks are separated into two bags—it was such an unexpected bonus! It made it easy to give one bag to each of my kids, which doubled the fun and kept them engaged in the process.Using the tumbler is a breeze. The digital 2-speed settings and 7-day timer make operation simple, and the color-printed instructions guide you through the entire process. My kids love watching the rough stones transform into shiny, polished gems—it’s magical. This is a fun family-gift or shared gift for kids. If you’re a hobbyist, parent, or just curious about rocks, this tumbler is an excellent way to explore the world of geology and gemology while creating beautiful keepsakes. It’s a great addition to our family’s activities, and I highly recommend it. No complaints whatsoever.

I've started my first batch of rocks in the rock tumbler. The instruction book was quite helpful. It's great that they include 2 small bags of varied rocks. It will be so interesting to see how they look after polishing 3 days with the rough grit. Then they get time with a fine grit depending on how shiny and smooth I want them to be.It's amazing how quiet the machine is. Being afraid of possible noise, I set it on some outdoor carpet on the patio (a covered area). I think it won't be a problem to have it running in the house or garage. The set even includes some jewelry settings to use for the polished gemstones. The manual says not recommended for children under 8. I was a little intimidated at first as an adult, but it really isn't difficult once you absorb the instructions and follow the steps.I have some beach glass that I'll try in it next to give those a more finished look.

This product arrives attractively packaged and with everything you need to get started. I found the instructions to be well explained and illustrated. We live near a creek and often find very interesting rocks, and this tumbler will add a new dimension to what we can do with them , and hopefully even work to create jewelery we can give as gifts.I've not been able to use it extensively yet, but so far the machine has functioned well and produces an acceptable level of noise. This is my first rock tumbler, so I can't really compare it to differently priced units but I do feel like the current price justifies the quality of machine you get.

I'm definitely going to get a lot of use out of this little thing. Have already had it going for 3 days working on the first handful of stones. Can't wait to see how they come out. Have wanted a rock tumbler since I was a kid but just never got the chance to get one. This one is very quiet, feels extremely well built, and powered right up with zero issues. Hoping it lasts for a long time to come! Great starter kit includes stones, polishing grit in coarse and fine, and polishing sponges. The stones have a nice assortment of semi precious gems, though lacked a bit in an identification card. I ended up with two identical instruction booklets, but they are full of good information and very easy to read. Also included some jewelry findings I hope to use when my first batch of stones are all polished up.
