I like that the cello position is repeatable. The chair I was using has wider front legs than flat part of the cello stop, so the chair legs touch on the curved part of the back, probably not a problem for many chairs. This cello stop locates the cello end pin directly in the middle of the front of the chair, and I'm not quite sure I like that. I think my natural cello end pin a little to the right of the center of the chair, and the finger board a little to the left of the center of the chair, with the cello angled a little. The folded up size is a little big, and the bag it came with is such a tight fit that it is hard to get the folded up cello stop back in the bag. And it won't fit in the bag that came with my music stand. Update: Writing this review is helping me. If you put the narrow end of the folded up contraption into the bag first and all the way into the bottom corner, then the rest can fit into the bag without a problem. I had an idea to "fix" the "problem" of having the cello centered. If I take out one of the two screws holding the center strip, then the center strip can rotate a little to allow the bottom of the cello to be a little off-center. It won't take much rotation at all. I tried positioning my cello (on carpet) until I felt it was in the right place. Then looking down at the device, the hole position that I will use is in the exact center of all the hole positions. of this device.

Nice cello stop. Quality material and workmanship. Comes with a. carrying case. It is very secure in setup so the position is precisely set and reproducible. That precision in setup is an advantage for that beginner, intermediate player. So this stop has the advantage of really establishing a repeatable cello position in relation to the chair and the seated player provided the endpin length is kept constant. This really helps. Good product and idea.OK-I have now used this for 3 months and I am totally sold on this device. I am just an adult beginner having played for about 1 year though have played other string instruments. This device is invaluable as it really helps to consistently position the instrument which for me eliminates at least some of the variables and my hand and finger positions are already in an advantageous stable position. I imagine advanced players will know their finger positions based on knowing their instrument so well, but for us noobs this device is really helpful and I cannot recommend it highly enough. A really good investment for the beginner.

As a new/student player, finding floor protection for home and while traveling became a new concern. Not wanting to damage hardwood floors, the search was on for a transportable wood option that would permit the continued resonance begun by the cello. Carpet stops both damage and sound, so finding a wooden device was a surprise. This design allows for either type of endpin (metal or rubber tipped) to rest in alternating craters to fit the extension needed for various heights, as well as securely anchoring behind chair legs with its T shape. The thin rubber lined underside also prevents the device from slipping. This all folds into a portable shape and comes with a zipped travel pouch (and Allen wrench to tighten any loosened joints in the device). While I have a full sized cello transported in a wheeled backpack soft case, the pouch fits into one of the zippered compartments although the compartment cannot zip closed. Perhaps I can loop the handles within the handles of the soft case, but regardless, this is a great accompaniment to the instrument. If you know a cello player without one of these, this definitely worth the try. I wouldn’t try a non-wood option.

Once unfolded and ready to use, the positioning of your cello / endpin is easily repeatable. This is especially important in the early days of learning to play; positioning will become second nature later. Holds the endpin well. Folds nicely for portability. Not fun to have yet another bag, but well worth it to have this cradle/stopper wherever one goes. The wood is solid, and the colour is classic. The two most important parts are the strength of the hinge and the placement of the stop positions. Both are excellent. It feels solid while in use, and is a definite use it and forget about it while you play stopper (not all are, trust me). The rubber on the bottom of the unit is a nice touch, makes for less noise on wooden floors when positioning, and adds some additional sideways stability, though the T is strong enough you don't really need additional. It certainly saves the surface of the floor one is playing on. Only one short-coming, and that is the rubber on the bottom is not thick enough to lift the hinge and nuts completely off the ground, so one could still scratch a wood floor when positioning it, or if one moves the chair and it under weight. We fixes this by adding a thin layer of felt across the underside of the two T arms. The long arm of the T (with the stopper positions) still has a rubber bottom, so there is still no slippage and the hinge is off the floor. Would suggest they put just a little thicker rubber on the bottom.

I have played cello for almost 30 yrs but for the last four years I have had worsening nerve damage on the right side of my body. This affects my ability to hold and stabilize my cello for any length of time and I also have had to adjust my seating position for it now.Our home has all hardwood and tile floors and since the nerve issues started I have tried other methods of stabilizing my cello endpin on the slippery hardwood but none have been so effective as this stop. This cello stop has helped immensely to repeatedly position my cello in a way that is most comfortable for me and provide more stability. I have a natural propensity to tense up now with the nerve issues which can affect my cello playing and it’s even worse when my cello is prone to slipping on the hardwood. The stop itself is very well-made and durable since it is wood and the rubber backing prevents sliding. I have a metal tipped endpin and I have no issues fitting it to the cello stop.Being under 5ft tall I do have a tendency to sit slightly off-center and on edge in most chairs otherwise my feet wouldn’t touch the floor (and yes, I look just as funny when my feet dangle as you would think) and I was able to adjust the cello stop enough to accommodate that. Thank you to reviewer DLC90266 because it was their mention of removing a screw to rotate the stop a bit to allow it to sit slightly off center that helped me with this.I like that the cello stop folds up neatly and comes with a travel bag. It doesn’t fit into my cello case pockets but I am petite under 5ft tall and have a smaller cello so no surprise there. I carry a separate bag for my music, resin, extra bow etc anyways so I just added it to that.Overall this is an ingenious product that works really well for me and I am grateful for the help it provides in allowing me to play more comfortably despite right-side nerve damage progression. Eventually (a few decades down the road I hope) I think I will lose the ability to play any string instruments once the nerve damage gets too bad but this handy device will extend the time I can play cello comfortably so thank you for this ðŸ™ðŸ»ðŸ’œ
